Ritzi's Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Karas

I went to Luderitz over the 2021 December holiday. Remember Ritzis from a few years back when I visited and they were situated at the Waterfront. Great food and service back then. I went to Ritzis during my stay now and we were welcomed to a full restaurant, all tables full and only two waitresses.

We sat for 45minutes before being greeted by a waitress (after complaining multiple times) Ended up waiting more than an hour for our drinks and the total time spent at Ritzis ended at over three and a half hours. We spent about 45minutes in total eating the rest was a waiting game.

We went back to Ritzis two days later and this time we found only ONE waitress on duty and she had to serve more than 20 people aswell as answer the phone, take orders via telephone, make everyones drinks and get the food out in time. SIKE! We played the waiting game once more. We had a late dinner that started at seven and ended up going home at ten, again spending 99% of the time waiting for our food and drinks (some of us ended up taking our mains home as a doggy bag whilst others at our table had forgotten that they ate) all this and seeing the poor waitress run around like a headless chicken.

The food is good, but the service is horrible! Its always a joy to support local but this experience makes it very hard. Pictures above were the only dishes we were served in the time period of three hours, we ordered 2 gerrie specials and a mexican, which we received ten minutes to ten. So unfortunately no pictures as they were taken...

Reviews are usually suppose to be sweet and from an appreciating and happy customer, unfortunately today, 19 November 2022@ 15H00, I had wished not to come here but my belly had no other choice for someone who isn't from Luderitz. The staff are angry for some reason, they (two ladies) don't look at you when you talk to them and I had to wait for a good 7minutes before someone served me, infact after I called them to assist me from the back. I won't say anythjng about the dusty tables and counters because we will blame it on the weather anyway. Well, the food is still not here..! She asked me to open my bear for her because she apparently, doesnt know how 🤣. A local customer just walked in and he esclamed "ek sal die julle dag wag vandag" mmmh! My facial expression probably looks angry or hungry now ofcourse, and so she comes all nice to me now, which I had appreciated, then she ask me to open my 2nd bear again. She tells me that the kitchen is still busy with my order which was suppose to have been done 20min ago. Also good.👍 I informed her confidently that I am submitting a review of her service...

I am not sure how to rate this restaurant as our food was very good and the staff were super kind and, for the most part, attentive. The downside was that our food took a really long time to come. It seemed longer because another customer that came in after us received her food faster. I am sure ours was a little more complicated to prepare to be warm at the same time, but I felt it was worth noting. On the upside, we received 2 1.5 liters of coke along with our takeaway pizzas that we ordered for later. I'm not sure if it was a promotion or a gift, but we appreciated it. Oh and a very weird thing is that your receipt comes out crazy, as in the waitress has to go through it line by line to explain that even though it says "bottle white wine" it actually represents your hake and chips and is the same price. Every item was similarly noted as a different item. I guess they bought a cash register already coded and haven't been able to...
