I recently had lunch at Jimbu Thakali – Kalimati Branch with my friend, and honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel very welcome. They greeted us with a warm “Namaste, Good Morning” which was such a nice touch. We were allowed to pick the table of our choice, and they quickly brought us water and the menu. When we asked for recommendations, they suggested trying one Mutton Thakali Set (their authentic specialty) and one Pork Chop from their continental options. For drinks, they recommended Japanese Tare Bubble Tea and Peach Iced Tea—so we ordered all of that. While waiting for our food, we looked around the restaurant and were really impressed. The place is spacious, clean, and has a great atmosphere. There’s plenty of parking, a kids’ play area, and wheelchair access to the ground floor, which I think is great for families and all kinds of visitors. Now about the food—absolutely delicious! The Mutton Thakali Set was full of authentic Nepali flavors and reminded me of a home-cooked meal, while the Pork Chop was juicy, tender, and very well-prepared. Both drinks were refreshing and flavorful, with a fun twist from the boba pearls and chia seeds. What stood out the most was the hospitality. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in from time to time to see if we needed anything, without being too much. We felt really taken care of. If you’re looking for a place in Kathmandu that offers both traditional Nepali food and continental options with warm service and a relaxing environment, I highly recommend visiting Jimbu Thakali at Kalimati. It’s...
Read moreMy wife and I recently visited Jimbu Thakali Restaurant, hoping to enjoy a hearty meal, but our experience was far from satisfactory. We ordered the Vegetable Thali and Mutton Thali however, one item in Veg. Thali was served with stale mushroom that had an unpleasant smell. It was evident that the dish was not fresh.
When we brought this to the attention of the waitress , instead of addressing our concern, they insisted that the food was made fresh. This dismissive attitude was incredibly frustrating and showed a lack of respect for customers. We expected better service, especially from a restaurant with such a reputation. Later, waitress she mentioned they disposed whole mushrooms.
For the price we paid, the quality of the food and the service was completely unacceptable.
We left feeling disappointed and unheard. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal or decent customer service. Save yourself the trouble and...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong the food is good, but they served KETCHUP with Kanchemba, and mustard with Pork. I asked the waiter if it’s ketchup that we were supposed to get, he went and double checked and said yes. Since when thakali cuisine included KETCHUP in their plating. They didn’t get the manager when we asked to talk with him, Mr Prakash please do better and they also mentioned later on that kanchemba is considered as fries and that is why they served KETCHUP with it, outrageous if you ask me. Plus when they gave the bill (in a tablet) they mentioned all the items and told the total price, when I asked if she added the water that we drank, she said 3 bottles yes? When we had just 1 water bottle. WHY was this NOT mentioned with the total bill amount, honestly, feels like SCAMMING strategy. I repeat food is good, but how things were handled was very disappointing. Imagine having problems and not being able to share your feedbacks with...
