Himalaya Palace — Restaurant in Aalsmeer

We were in that restaurant for 2 hours and a half (exactly 2h30 min). 2 hours of that was spent waiting for the food and even less than half an hour for eating because we were starving at that point. When we’d ask where the food is, the servers would speed walk to the kitchen to avoid talking to us or answering us. It got to a point where one of us had to get up and chase a waiter down to understand when we would get our food. At 2h and 10 minutes, we get our food, and its actually really good. However, no food is worth waiting that long for, especially when the food we ordered was very basic like butter chicken and chicken tandoori. The employees did not accomodate us in any way shape or form, did not offer any compensation. The only excuse they offered was that they didnt know it would get this busy (almost all other tables waited also at the very least an hour), and that they had a lot of online orders, which they prioritised without letting the tables know or keep any of us updated. Himalaya palace is located in Aalsmeer centrum and offers a good quality food, nice ambience & very good service. Their speciality is Nepalesse & Indian cusine, momos(veg & chicken) is something which order everytime we go and is very authentic from the Nepalesse menu, other starter options are also quite descent. Also, in main course daal makhhani, saag panner & paneer butteer masala is something we like as well, also fresh & warm naans are delicious our kids like it a lot. The ambience of the restuarnt is quite nice and spacious, with low volume soothing music in background, nice decor all around. Been coming to Himalaya Palace for years and it's never disappointing. So for me the best Indian in the region. I live in Hoofddorp where they have about 3 Indian restaurants however the food is so good that it still make me drive to this place in Aalsmeer. The staff is super friendly and adjust any dish as I wish; spicy, non spicy, extra coriander or without. As a regular they even showed me their kitchen which is super clean and organized. One thing that makes them stand out is their self made papadum, Ive been to many places but it never taste like theirs. also if you like spicy try the madras with their amazing garlic nan.
