Not what it used to be.. the joy has made way for a nasty aftertaste.
Our situation: We were with the four of us, and one of us has eating restrictions. As a result, we asked whether this person could eat a la carte. This request was rejected because Kokusai could not ensure nor check that this person would secretly eat with the three of us because the other three were going for the all-you-can-eat option. As a result, we were forced to choose 4x All-You-Can-Eat. A very cynical and customer-unfriendly approach; a disappointment we couldn't suppress.
The food and the portions: For a number of years (2018-2023), things went very well, and the quality to had improved considerably. This is no longer the case, in our opinion. In the last 18 months, we have eaten here quite often, and we've noticed the decline. The taste just is not that consistent anymore. The portion sizes have gone down, and the price has risen considerably, and the cocktails and mocktails contain more ice than before. We completely understand that the recession and inflation are causing all of this. BUT: Paying more than €210 for a regular occasion is just way too much for this kind of service and standard. (2 adults + 2 children, and regularly I went here for business dinners)
It's such a pity: we have been regular customers for many years. Maybe we will come back one day, but not in the near future. From now on, we will go to Tanuki, in either Amstelveen or...
Read moreThis is by far the worst restaurant in the Netherlands. Even one star is not worth it.
We made a reservation and went on time. Still we waited for 55min! 55min! No apologise from them nor no free drinks offered. I told and reminded them that we were waiting for a long time but no action taken. Just every time they said wait 10 more min. Wait 5 more min. In the end we had to wait for 55min for nothng. Even people who came later than us got tables first just because they were group or more people. When I pointed it out they said well the table were for 3 people but you are 2 people. So it means we had to wait until any table for 2 people to be available???? I even talked to the manager/owner. His attitude was like 'so what? there's no table. You have to wait. Or go somewhere else'. Zero effort or interest to solve the issue.
Eventually we decided to go somewhere else after ridiculous 55 min waiting and when we told them we would leave, they were like 'ok whatever'. No apologise or comment, Nothing.
This is all- you- can- eat restaurant and it is super busy during weekend so they don't really care whether you wait or get a bad service. They have lots of customers anyways. Their attitude and the way they are handling customers is just unbelievable. They should never even get any reservation. Just walk- in and try your luck and patience is apprently how things are working here. Don't go there and waste your...
Read moreAfter more than 4 years of eating at this restaurant at least once a month (including during Corona I frequently ordered at home), I regret to say that it was the last time I went here. After the start of Corona everything slowly began to change, quality was no longer their priority, the products were sometimes old (they gave me the impression that they were prepared for several days and were not sold), the portions began to shrink in each month more. I ordered a portion of squid and was shocked to see that there were 4 small pieces on the plate. Another shock was to see that in the bowl with Edammame there were only a few pods (no more than half a bowl). Shrimp are no longer said to have reduced the portion to 4-5 shrimp. The Corona measures presented on the site are not observed at all, the tables are less than 1.5 m away, sick people are allowed to eat and endanger other customers, the waiters do not keep their distance when serving. I asked to change the table because the sun was too strong and I was refused, telling me that it would enter the clouds immediately, while a group of 8 people next to me was immediately moved. I had the impression at the time that I was discriminated, because they were Dutch and I spoke to them in English. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing how much this restaurant could drop in terms of...
