I’ve been a pretty big fan of the Brouwerij ‘t IJ brews since I moved to the Netherlands (around 4 years ago) and this place has been on my list ever since. I recently moved nearby and had a chance to visit! Its safe to say that I was not disappointed! I ordered the beer tasting platter with 5 different types of beer and all of them were pretty good. My favorite was the ‘zatte’. The tasting platter was around 10€ which I felt was a decent price. The only downside of this place are the snacks! Since this was a typical dutch brewery, I was expecting them to have some fries or bitterballen. Their snack menu involves bread, cheese, sausages, eggs etc. we ordered the ‘vegetarian’ food platter which included old amsterdam cheese, goat cheese, bread, pickles, peanuts and 2 boiled eggs for €10.50 and to be honest I was not impressed and did not think it was worth it. If you’re looking for better snacks you can always head make you way next door to brew boys ;) which is what we ended up doing. All in all - great beer, good ambiance and as for the snacks, try and eat...

The seating areas are very nice, you have to order and pick up your own foods and drinks. You need to order from separate areas for drinks and food and pay separately. There are a variety of beers available, you can try them before buying, which is nice. Different beers are available but I can't say they are special. I ordered a local cheese, it was nice with Turkish bread. Among the meat snacks, I ordered ox sausage, which is the only product other than pork, but it was quite unsuccessful. When I first tried it, I thought there was something wrong with my taste, but it turned out to be a featureless and raw meat. In addition; The positive dialogue about the order turned into an aggressive and indifferent attitude when I asked what was on the menu that did not include pork. Even though I have no such religious or cultural obsessions, it was an annoying experience. Additionally, you do not have the chance to see the food on the menu while ordering. The restaurant cannot provide any images. I think it is not a suitable place for...

I would give everything 5* except for the incredibly rude guy that did our tour. From reading previous negative reviews here, it looks like we encountered the same person. He was very annoyed at us for joining the tour 'late' - when I pointed out that it was 3:01, he yelled 'yes and the tour starts at 3'. (The reason we were one minute late was because they had dropped our food order and had to redo it). He then yelled at another couple for talking quietly to each other while he was talking. Anytime he asked the group a question there was just terrified silence in case we gave the wrong answer! I would normally tip generously, but this guy's attitude meant that no way was I giving any tip. Seems like the rest of the group felt the same way - I didn't see anyone put money in the pot! The rest of the staff must hate when he does the tours because they get no tips! Overall, a great experience except for that one guy - everyone else was super nice and friendly and we had fun. Bit of a shame as it really ruined what could've been an...

How to spend a weekend in Amsterdam🇳🇱🚤🍪 I recently traveled from New Jersey to Europe for roughly two weeks and visited Vienna, Amsterdam, London, and York✈️ Here is how I spent a weekend in Amsterdam during the fall season!🍂 📌Here are my top recs for Amsterdam: • Explore the canal district (De 9 Straatjes) • Take a boat tour on the canals (we booked a tour through Amsterdam Boat Adventures and loved it) • Get stroopwafels at Rudi’s in the Albert Cuyp Market • Walk around the Museumsplein and tour some of the Museums (we toured the MoCo - book in advance for the Van Gogh Museum) • Book ahead if you want to tour the Anne Frank Haus (it was sold out for almost a month out when we visited) • Get the BEST chocolate cookies at @vanstapele • Walk through Vondelpark • Get dinner at Piccolo (tapas-style Italian dishes) • Get dinner at Gió Cucina Italiana • Get brunch at Hick’s • Check out the Brouweij ’t IJ - Proeflokaal de Molen (one of the few windmills in the city you can see with a brewery attached to it) There is more to do in Amsterdam than just these suggestions, but you have to save some things to see for the next visit, right?😆 Happy traveling and stay tuned for my London content coming next!🇬🇧 Follow for more travel vlogs plus things to do in and around New Jersey and the Northeast!☺️ #amsterdam #amsterdamcanals #amsterdamtrip #amsterdamguide #amsterdamtravel #visitamsterdam #exploreamsterdam #travelvlogger #travelvlog #europetravel

⸻ The beer here was excellent, with a wide variety of options to suit different tastes — from lighter, refreshing styles to richer, more complex brews. I also really enjoyed the snacks; they were delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks. One of the things I appreciated most was the self-service setup, which makes the whole experience feel very casual and easy-going. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with friends without feeling rushed or overly formal, and that’s part of its charm. Prices are a little on the high side, especially compared to similar spots, but the quality of the drinks and the overall vibe still make it worthwhile. That being said, the place could benefit from a bit more attention to cleanliness — it’s not a major issue, but it’s noticeable. Still, if you’re looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy good beer, tasty snacks, and an informal atmosphere, this is definitely a place worth checking out
