NAP Amsterdam — Restaurant in Amsterdam

We came here on Saturday for a convivial get together in a group of 6, knowing it was famous for its burgers. Jin our friend behind the bar looked after us well and the food did not disappoint. I had sate ayam which is up there with my Indonesian mum’s home recipe. And that’s saying a lot! 😁 Compliments to the chef!

My friends had burgers and the duck special. I didn’t drink but my husband enjoyed a light red and my friends enjoyed beer. All in all a lovely night out with perfect ambient lighting and background music not too overbearing.

My only comment would be that I sat on the outside of the table and I got knocked a few times on my chair possibly because the tables are close together. Would have preferred a seat looking out at the main section of the restaurant which I found out later was beautifully laid out with gorgeous flower arrangements -details I love as a gardener and plant lover. I live just around the corner so I went there few times already. Lunch menus is just on the edge to be called ‘ok’. portion is big but nothing more than home made quality. Lunch is always dissapointing compared to how much you pay for those. Mango smoothie tasted like banana shake with hint of mango. Dinner menus are good. But nothing impressive. Service really needs to be improved. I understand it’s an area where many dutch people are living, but I think an English menu should be prepared for who doesn’t understand dutch. And servers’ attitude are not good, for me at least. For every single experiences at there I had to wait for my menu card 10mins, ordering food more than 15min, to get a dish more than 40min whilst other tables are served when it was not busy. It is a cozy place, but when we came we asked for a menu and a person just said no. So I ordered without the menu; in the end there was a miss communication and I got a dish that I did not wanted and when I asked a same person to change it to a different one she said no. So I ended up eating it, it was not bad, but it was not what I wanted either. The person that served it did not suggest any solution to my dissatisfaction when I said that there was a miss communication and acted as it is my problem.
