SOTTO Pizza — Restaurant in Amsterdam

This place is a bit of a hit and miss. The pizza is one of the best in Amsterdam, but the waiting staff seem undertrained! We ordered a bottle of wine and the waitress didn't open it in front of us, neither served the first glasses, but ok. Later in the same night we ordered 3 Panna Cottas with a waiter, after a long wait and no dessert, we checked with another waitress and nobody had our order, so we ordered it again and the waitress showed up with 2 Panna Cottas instead of 3 - who am I to judge, but getting the order wrong two times in a row is not really an indicative of good service, but alright, can happen. Now, the biggest let down of the last time I was there: the Panna Cotta was tasting weird, it tasted like it stayed too long in the fridge in a recipient that wasn't properly sealed so it got hints of leftover food that was probably placed in the same fridge and also not properly sealed, which was a shame because in the other time I was there I could swear I had one very good Panna Cotta. I'll probably go back to this place because the pizza is really good, but I'd appreciate it if the owners/managers could give a little attention to the training of...

A very good option for Pizza on this side of Vondel. Friendly staff, broad selection of pizza and extremely quick service.

Covid Regulations: (4/5) There was only me inside placing the order. The staff had masks on and the order confirmation was shown on the screen. The payment was also by pin. All in all good controls.

Service: (5/5) Friendly staff. Cheerful even when we are unable to see smiles. Placed the order very quickly Within a minute. The food was ready in about 5 minutes. Was super happy because it was slightly cold to be waiting outside.

Food: (4/5) The pizza was really good. The flavours were really good and the toppings were plenty. The 4 cheese pizza was much better than the eggplant one. The pizza also stayed quite warm until we reached home which made it great to eat. Only point I would have liked is if the pizza had cuts in it. When having to do this at home, we keep messing up the toppings. This is something I would need to check.

Dough was undercooked, which made it impossible to eat a slice at the restaurant with your hands... The pizza was served without being sliced into 8, which I guess they don't do because it's impossible to cut an undercooked dough :/ The tomato sauce was really good, just like the topping I picked. As for service, the waiter wouldn't let me eat by myself on a table for 4 and moved me right next to some other costumers. I believe they were expecting those 8 tables to become occupied. As I left the restaurant, I noticed I was the last costumer to come in, and those tables I spoke of were all empty. Not the most friendly/smart guy I guess. My advice: try some other place, this one...
