AH Overtoom — Local services in Amsterdam

I don't know who manages this place but that person is totally unsuited for the job. Went there with empty bottles 5 times and only managed to hand them in once after asking 3 different people to clear the machine. The other times, I got the same reaction that it's broken. It's not broken, because everytime a couple hours later it magically works again. Had a girl ask me to come back later that day when I asked for a product we could both see laying 3 crates down on a pile, because she didn't feel like getting it. Cassieres don't make eye contact are literally on their phone while you wait to hand them money and totally ignore you while they are on their social media. When you ask something they are too busy talking with their friends to acknowledge you. Seriously one of the worst Albert Heijn locations in terms...

General not a big selection

Big minus is the service: You are forced to use the self checkout. Today I was NOT allowed to use the normal cash register. In my instance I get controlled 80% of the time. (I must be buying the 'wrong' groceries). This takes extra time. After controlling your groceries the employees do NOT put the items back in the bag. (oh, u mag dat self doen...after all 'we just work here'). Its not our fault you buy the 'wrong things', we don't control who get's inspected and so on.

If you buy any fruit you also needs to scan it in a separate scanner first (and go to that line). This adds time.

How about adding someone to bag the groceries for you in the normal cash line? I'd be happy to pay another euro for this. And it would be as quick as the self scanners...

I rather go to Jumbo or...

The place is nice and you can find pretty much anything. Very convenient also the prices. The reason I lived only 2 stars is because of the people working there. Especially at the cashier. A customer in front of me paid with MasterCard. When it was my turn she said they not accept MasterCards. I had a bill of 30 euro, I give 50 euro and she ask me that they accept only small bills. I give her 30 euro in smaller bills and she checked one by one to see if we're fake. I don't know if this is common in Amsterdam, but I felt it...
