Canal View Stay Amsterdam — Hotel in Amsterdam

The Canal View BnB is a treasure. The bright apartment has tall ceilings and a wall of windows overlooking the canal, and its contemporary decor is impeccable. There is a comfortable bed, a breakfast counter with a view of the canal, a sofa and table in the sitting area, and a delightful window seat. The bathroom is ultra modern, and the large shower seems to provide an endless amount of hot water. Johannes is a cheerful, efficient, accommodating host. He stocks the refrigerator with complimentary beer or wine and provides snacks and breakfast cereals (milk in the fridge). There are machines for making coffee and tea and even frothy milk! He is knowledgeable about restaurants and places to see. The neighborhood is quaint and charming, and there is a fun restaurant/bar on the corner. My husband and I enjoyed being out of the touristy city center, which is walking distance from the apartment. There are steep, winding stairs, but Johannes carries all the luggage, and the effort it takes to climb them is totally worth it. We are in our ‘70’s and found no problem reaching the top. We’ve been to scores of inns over the years, but this is one of the few we would revisit: a 5+ place to stay...

Canal View Stay a hidden gem in Amsterdam! The room is near Vondelpark a beautiful place to walk which we did all 4 days we stayed there. It’s a great place for those who like to walk to key attractions near the city center. Otherwise you a take a short tram ride located a few minutes away. There are incredible restaurants right near you. What we loved was the care and attention to detail Johannes and his wife provided. The room was outstanding our favorite in 3 weeks of travel staying at amazing places. It is right next to the canal, just beautiful!!! The room had everything you could possibly need. The mini refrigerator was stocked with drinks and snacks. Johannes was readily available to our every need. What an amazing person. He had so many recommendations and information in the room that you could access and review. There’s also the special little treats chocolate and mini Stroopwafels to have with French press coffee as an option. He took us on a private canal boat tour which was very special. Our stay was truly unique and wonderful! From the moment we check in to departure we felt safe and well taken care of. The attention to details (including the most impressive bed making I have ever experienced) was exquisite. Henry the Heron was an unexpected bonus and was a delightful host as well each morning. Johannes somehow kept our 13 year old stocked with stroopwaffles which was a monumental task in itself. Far enough out from City Center to really experience what it is like to live in Amsterdam but close enough to the Tram to be in the city center in a matter of minutes. Also just a short walk from the Train to be able to see other parts of the Netherlands. Lots of adorable restaurants and cafes close by. Vondelpark is a 3 minute walk and quite the retreat from a busy travel day. People watching is a must! Recommending to all our friends and family.
