Very unfortunate.
I took my partner out to dinner here. While the first impressions of the atmosphere were good, when we mentioned our reservation, we were still placed at the bar to wait. That wasn’t a problem these things happened but unfortunately, it was a bit of foreshadowing for the rest of the evening.
When we were finally seated, there was a distinct lack of music at the seated place. The overall theme of the restaurant made up for some of it, but it still felt like something was missing.
After ordering, we received our cocktails and got some tasty chips served, which were nice and tasty. However, we then waited around 1.5 hours before our food arrived. I was just about to suggest leaving when it finally came. I also noticed that other people, who had arrived about 30 minutes after us, got their food sooner.
At this point, we were starving, but I hoped that some good, tasty food would make up for the long wait. Unfortunately, our hunger quickly turned into disappointment.
The tortillas and tacos tasted store-bought, and if they weren’t, that might actually be worse. The chicken brochetta was tender, but it was completely drenched in a sweet sauce with no other spices. The sunny fish tostadas were as bland as could be completely lacking seasoning. Even basic salt and pepper were missing, which I’d say are essential unless following a very specific recipe.
We also received several extra little side items, but they didn’t add much to the dish, as they too were tasteless and lacked any spice. I ate my food quickly, not out of enjoyment but just to satisfy my hunger, while my partner didn’t even finish her main plate due to the poor quality.
Besides the food, everything felt a bit unorganized. Whether it was due to new staff or a new system, I have no idea, but since this doesn’t seem to be a recurring issue, maybe it was just a fluke.
What I’d love to see improved is more attention to the food. I would rather pay more and have a smaller menu if it meant better quality and a more flavorful experience. In my opinion, homemade tortillas and tacos are a must for a Mexican restaurant, especially since they can so easily elevate the quality and taste of the food.
I had high hopes, but it just didn’t work out. The staff and organization felt chaotic, and the food was poor quality and lacked flavor. I can see the potential, but there’s still a lot of...
Read moreI and my friend had a dinner at Amigo on Sunday evening, the restaurant occupied lots tables at the moment but we still had a table luckily. Vibe: personally I like the decor and its interior design, as It seems totally seperate from the outside. You can see and feel it right away you step into the entrance. A very cozy and lovely place for enjoying food and talking with people Staff: besides the quality of food, I think you can experience the very friendly and dedicated customer service here. It is one od the reason I will recommend my friends to give it a try in Amigo Food: just go for dish with fish and cheese taco, the taste is impressive and savory, but not too much. The nacho and tomato sauce is bland to me, not special; the beef taco is allright; chicken taco is quite dried to me as I expected its juicy. Oh almost forget to mention Churros, you definitely choose it to end your meal beautifully, very authentic and delish! You will get what i mean when eating, I have a passion in trying dessert so I'm very confident in my feeling...
Read moreWhen we sat down the first thing that bugged us was the waiting and having to get attention from a waiter. We ordered our drinks. The beer was good but the margarita was very strong to the point it ruined the raspberry flavor. We saw the table next to us ordered churos, and since we weren’t that hungry we decided to order them. Mistake. Our previous waiter started quite literally ignoring us so we had to put ourselves out there to get noticed by the second waiter which was unpleasant. Let’s talk about the churos now. For 10 euros we got cheap cinnamon ice cream, dry churos which didn’t taste like anything and some sad whipped cream. The only good thing about the place were the lovely customers which we encountered and started a conversation with. That’s quite a bad thing. Maybe the other food is good but don’t...
