LOCALS — Restaurant in Arnhem

Had to deeply think about this review first. It was just weird. We arrived in front of the Restaurant and to be honest first were not sure if we are dressed good enough since the interior of the Restaurant. But then we saw a Person inside the Restaurant with Sandals and Shorts and thought okay it shouldn't be a Problem. It was Saturday 17:00 almost the whole Restaurant was empty inside and we checked the bookings before arrival already and saw that there are enough free spots.

But what afterwards happened, is the part why i had to think about the review first. We went inside and ask the waiter (blond guy) for a table. He asked if we are having a reservation. As we said no, he straight away said they don't have any free tables. Then we asked if it's possible to sit outside and you clearly saw he wanted to say no but after a little bit he said yes sit down outside.

We thought about leaving anyway but as we just wanted to eat something fast and the food and the Restaurant looked great we decided to stay. And to be honest the waitress which served us then was like expected. Friendly , smiling just like a good waitress should be ( brown hair, Young Woman )

And then it got really strange. Two women arrived and went inside. He did exactly the same thing and they also went outside to get a table there. Next to us and pretty unhappy about it since the whole restaurant still pretty much empty inside.

And yes it got even more strange. A little bit later a Group arrived, some guys rdy for the Eagles Concert at night at the Stadium. The were friendly but a bit loud. The Women next to then asked the waitress if they can go inside which she straight away said yes to and showed them some free tables inside. I was pretty much spechless. The waiter really had two sides. I saw him happily speaking with the Boys Group rdy for the eagles concert. But treating us or the women with a whole different pretty bad attitude.

Sadly to say my wife later on said this guy didnt liked us since he saw that we are not dutch. I thought thats maybe a bit to harsh but i never ever had such a guy ever before. Going to all kind of restaurants From McD to ducasse in Paris.

Lets get to the positiv Parts. The food was great. My wife had the eggplant and i've took the dutch hangar steak. Nothing to complain. Food was great and I do like their philosophy.

But i really had to think about the last time i had a waiter with such a bad attitude. First i've thought he didn't liked how we are dressed if it is to casual for inside but since he did the same with the women who where definitely dressed good enough that cant be the reason for it.

It was just 100% not professional and a night a day comparison from the waiter and the waitress. Even as we payed at the End and gave the usual 10% Tip on top he did not changed his attitude to us.

Sorry about the long text but i had to explain this 1 Star Review a bit more detailed since it wasn't because of the food or the Restaurant itself. My wife was afterwards quite mad for some hours, and i already wrote here thoughts about it. So there is nothing more to add.

I would give this Restaurant itself for sure another try but not if i get served again but this waiter.

Just Speechless to see...

I really loved the atmosphere and food. I had the steak tartare of Dutch beef for the appetizer and the Dutch beef for the main meal. I was quite impressed by the taste at the time.

Unfortunately, I got a serious case of food poisoning from the uncooked beef. I'm not sure if this was just a personal reaction or if something was wrong with the meat. It's 3:50 in the morning after I ate it. I've just finished spewing. It was coming out both ends. I haven't experienced food poisoning this bad since I had curd...

We opted for the 3 course menu and the vegetarian options at each course. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented. The portions were just right too. It was busy and there was a lovely atmosphere throughout. It was our first trip to The Netherlands and we had managed to learn a few phrases.
