Restaurant Mej. Janssen — Restaurant in Arnhem

I went to have dinner here with a girlfriend of mine and my very young son (3 months) the place was lively with good music and a lot of happy guests, who were extremely understanding of my crying son. The service is impeccable, everyone spoke English, although I did try to practice my Dutch! The waiters were kind and attentive. And now, the food- absolutely delicious! I had scallops as a starter which was succulent and my friend had the tuna, which I tried and it was amazing- much better than I had anticipated! Then I ordered the tournedos as a main, which at first came overcooked (I ordered it red) and when I told the waiter he didn’t even think twice- he took my plate and my friends (she ordered the salmon) and said “let us make it fresh for you, our apologies”… and they brought us two new plates and extra fries, and needless to say the food was really amazing! Top notch restaurant* I definitely highly recommend this place and I am really looking forward to going back to try some other plates… also! Prices are really fair! What a gem and pleasant surprise. In a city with very few good restaurants and a lot of sub-par restaurants all doing the same thing, Mej. Janssen had a cosy and warm atmosphere, good service, and above all, excellent food with a very interesting menu and wine list. All in all, it was a great experience, and we'll definitely be back to try the other delicious dishes we saw on the tables around us. This restaurant is located in one if the hidden streets in the center of Arnhem. The space inside is very narrow and the tables are quite close to each other, so you don't feel the privacy.
