Update to owner: you're not even open for feedback, you prey on customers who likely never come back - do a hospitality course and learn yes, you are being absolutely both manipulative and exploitative. You're railing against the wrong person, it wasn't me paying - because I'd surely have given you exactly a $0 tip. Furthermore how am I supposed to complain beforehand? Seriously have a think about what you actually said here? This review is to warn others - not you! By extension we can only hope you use the feedback to improve and do better in the future, but that seems unlikely going by your reply. RUDE.
Original review: Food was sub par and a pricey for what it was. That's one thing. But what I really disliked is how the Dutch waitress exploited my US friends' inclination to tip (remember this is a European restaurant meaning staff gets a full salary, social benefits, and healthcare and don't rely on tips at all) by asking them, with the payment terminal in her hand, point-blank, '...and how much would you like to tip?' This forced them to come up with a number, after which she proceeded to simply add that amount to the total bill and processed the payment. It was rude, manipulative, exploitative and just totally unpleasant. This was after having ignored us a few times in a manner characteristic of notoriously bad Dutch service - yet still having the audacity to demand a tip. A tip to management: leave tipping to the discretion of the customers. You don't ask customers how much they want to tip. If your payment terminal cannot process adjustments to allow tipping: too bad. Get another machine. Fix it. Whatever you do, don't...
Read moreWe were pleasantly surprised by the quality of sushi served at this place. We thought it would be a tourist trap however we picked nigiri made with local fish (wahoo and tuna) and two sushi rolls made with the same local fish (the spicy caterpillar and spicy catch). They were beautifully presented and the ratio fish and rice was great (e.g. more fish than rice). We picked one of their asian inspired cocktails and awa di lamunchi (the regular and shiso version) which were all great and not overly sweet. The only downside might be that they were understaffed and the entire place which was full was served by only two persons, although they did great and were still very friendly and correct.. you had to wait a little longer sometimes. We personally didn't mind, but we can imagine some...
Read moreHighly overrated restaurant and for what they offer very expensive We had high Hopes for this restaurant and when we arrived the setting was nice, but then after taking our order we waited more then 35 minutes for the first dish arrived which was the fried shrimp. All I can say the wait was not worth it. The food is inmensly overpriced for average quality. Portion wise it was shameful so small. I mean 21.50 dollars for 6 pieces of deep fried shrimp which were probably out of the freezer is absurd. 16 dollars for 5 very small pieces of scallops the size of a dime. If they were really special I would except it, but it was very average. Altogether a real disappointed and I would avoid this place. There are much better restaurants...
