Thijs & Co — Restaurant in Emmen

It's fairly common that any new restaurant starts with a great idea, enthusiasm and positivity. Well, Thijs and co excels in all of them.  Not only, in my opinion, have they been able to settle in quite fast and well, but made more impact then many who preceded them. Within a short period of time they managed to attract, and more importantly, keep a loyal custom base. This cannot only be due to the location, as some have tried and failed, so there has to be more, and more there is !.. The management are restauranteurs through and through and you can see this in everything they do. The warm welcome, the service, the eagerness to make sure you feel well and the effort they put in every little detail. Also it's the atmosphere they created with dark warm colours, fire places and "easy listening"music giving you an almost caribbean feeling, especially during warm summer evenings.  Next to that they serve food that is different, surprising, original and tasty. And the cocktails, well, take your time for those as they are able to surprice you with a huge variaty of them. But, as with any new kid on the block it's not flawless. Some dishes are a bit overpriced, as others are great value for money and yes, now and then the service could be a wee better. But that's all work in progress. For now I can only say that this is a new gem in the ever growing choices of restaurants in Emmen.

And certainly not one...

We zijn met een grote groep bij Thijs en Co in Emmen gaan eten. Wat lastig was, is dat de hele tafel voor het menu moet gaan of de hele tafel niet. Gezien we met 11 man allemaal een andere mening hadden was dat nog even een dingetje. Uiteindelijk werd het opgelost doordat mensen ook een drankje i.p.v een gang konden krijgen. Als je voor het menu gaat kies je 1 voorgerecht, 2 hoofgerechten, 1 bijgerecht (kleinere porties dan een normaal hoofdgerecht) en 1 toetje. Over speciale wensen zoals geen saus ergens over of een extra voor gerecht i.p.v een hoofdgerecht deden ze niet moeilijk. De porties zijn prima en de smaak van de gerechten zijn goed. Het restaurant ziet er ook gezellig en sfeervol uit. Ze hebben hele leuke stoelen. We wonen niet in de buurt, maar anders zou ik wel terug komen.
