Cantina van Jongkind — Restaurant in Gouda

After booking a dining experience through an activity provider where we could choose between different sets, like unlimited pancakes, tea set, or beer and snacks, etc. When we got to the place, the lady who attended us was not welcoming at all towards us. Apparently we had to choose the option through the app but the option wasn’t displayed, and at the restaurant they would only allow us to do the pancake menu although the price was the same as the other options. She said it wasn’t possible to do the tea menu or the beer and snacks because they didn’t have it. I am baffled when thinking how the other customers are having tea and snacks next to me and I have to get only pancakes. She kept insisting on not having any beers or tea to serve us and insisted on us paying additional despite paying in advance. While trying to understand why it wasn’t possible, the waiter kept getting more frustrated and ever more rude to us. Even told us maybe it would be better to go somewhere else, even though she knew we could not cancel her he activity anymore. In the end we paid 30€ for unlimited plain pancakes, they didn’t even give us any fruit, just syrup and sugar. Ridiculous! Very good! Authentic! We really enjoyed our evening out. The home feel and happy staff. You can hear the happy chiefs in the kitchen making your food and it reflects . The pizza was delicious, and the dough was an absolute winner! The blue cheese summer salad was really tasty, limoncelo tiramissu 💖 so fresh. Jongkind is the man that used to own the property, when he died his will called it to be made into small homes for childless, older women with no form of support, to live and keep their dignity!
