Another month, another date night. As it was a cold and windy night, we browsed through Thuisbezorgd to find something to accompany our movie. We are huge fans of Asian food, and having had Vietnamese recently we went for a change of pace with Japanese. The menu for SushiRito is everything we've ever wanted from a Japanese restaurant, offering traditional Japanese appetisers, pokebowls, bento boxes, and of course sushi. After seeing this menu and the photos of the food we just had to give SushiRito a go. As we had a takeaway we can't comment on the decor or ambience of the restaurant, but the food was spectacular! For starters we chose veggie gyozas and the curry triangles - the veggie gyozas were the star of this show, putting the curry triangles to shame, especially when dipped in the yakitori sauce that they came with. The curry triangles were nice enough, but we would have liked to see a little more curry filling in there. They weren't bad at all though, and they are still well worth the price. For our mains, we decided on the California salad and the aloha yakitori pokebowl. The crisp fresh salad was presented beautifully with a good portion of toppings (salmon, avocado, crab...) and drizzled with a sesame and wasabinaise dressing. The salad was delicious, although the dressing could have done with some extra flavour and I felt the need to add some soy sauce. Our previous experiences of pokebowls have tended to be a bowl filled 80% with rice and a disappointing amount of toppings, but that wasn't the case here at all. They were so generous with their toppings that it took a long time before we saw even a single grain of rice! The ratio of rice/toppings was perfect! The quality of the ingredients used by the chef made this pokebowl one of the best we've ever had (and we've had a lot); the freshness of the greens added a beautiful crunchy texture to the bowl and just added to its aesthetics. Despite the exquisite presentation of the food and its speedy arrival, we were slightly disappointed that we were only given one set of chopsticks for the two of us. However the food was more than enough to make up for this slight mistake and we would definitely eat here again. Other reviews have mentioned how good the service is and how pretty the restaurant is, so next time we eat here we will likely go for the full experience.
