This was one of the worst indian food experiences we had so far.
The restaurant was small, noisy, and the table next to the toilet entrance was not really appealing with all the customers coming by.
Then for the service... 30 minutes after we ordered our food (the time that you would at least have gotten your appetizer), we got told that they did not have the ordered vegetarian samosa's..... How can a indian restaurant run out of vegetarian samosa's !?! but ok..... we chose to cancel the appetizers, since there was no real good alternative, and our mood was gone.
So for the main course we got a extra side dish, that consisted out of potato's and pea's..... sadly enough the pea's were clearly not fresh, and came from a jar (again fine dining ?!?).
The curries we got were bland (dont ask me how you can make indian food bland with all the spices that go in it), and the shrimp curry of my wife had shrimp that were far overcooked.
Overall, a bad experience, and we will never return to this restaurant again..... suggestion.... Ghurka 100m further is a proper restaurant that serves curries, that are 1000 times better than Indian Poort.
And the owner cant take any critisism, since he starts to spam call you after...

Pros : We went for a dinner and we had a great environment and welcoming nature. One of the example of their services is they have provided me the slice of lemons & green chilies on my request (which are not included in the menu). We were surprised to have Bengali cuisine in the menu. (Next time we may try Fish dishes). We order Rice, Lamb bhuna, Madras chicken and Garlic naan - every items were delicious except the Madras Chicken (which I felt is too burning spicy without green chilies).
Cons : Because of the Madras chicken dish, our stomach got little bit disturbed on the same day.
Improvement : I hope if they could have mentioned in the menu card that they are giving red chillies on this item. The reason I have mentioned this because I am a green chilies lover and prefer spicy but when it comes to red chilies, it doesn’t...
Read moreSpecial call out to the excellent service: really polite, welcoming and made me and my partner (ex pats) feel comfortable. We went for the mixed grill, and two chef specials for mains — including the Calcutta Lamb Ghost.
Starters were well presented, with sizeable portions. Prawns were the stars - firm, nice bite and gorgeous Smokeness. We also ordered two beers and some Peshwari naan. Naans were thin with some bite to them, but were very rich — could’ve been slightly larger and more like clouds, but still great.
Both mains were great. One was the zoelta(?) chicken and the other the Calcutta Ghost. The first was a strong tomato base with rich and smooth texture, with wonderfully soft melt-in-mouth chicken. The Calcutta lamb was more savoury, sauce was a tad oily but packed with flavour.
Atmosphere was refined but relaxed. Maybe 10 tables max, so it feels cosy....
