Mauve Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Laren

We sat here for lunch on a sunny winter day. The terrace is beautiful, cozy and a perfect spot to sit. The food took quite a while to arrive but it was relaxing to sit so not so bad. We had sandwiches which were all tasty but a bit on the smaller side. The steak sandwich was as well made and came with a burger bun which was very good. They also have gluten free bread available but didn’t toast it for the sandwich. We had a gluten free club sandwich which was tasty but seemed smaller than if you had it with normal bread (probably because the gluten free bread is smaller). We also had a cheese toasty. Overall a great spot to come and relax with a chilled lunch. Expect to wait a bit for food...

Had a couple of wines at Mauve, the part which used to be the Anton Bar. It was open again, hurray! Very nice area, and relaxing atmosphere. Service was super, and we got a surprise lunch as the big party before us left a whole tray of untouched, freshly made carpaccio and cheese bread behind at the counter. As the waitress did not want it to go to waste, she offered us and other tables if we wanted a piece. Which we and the others did. Yummy!! Very nice. And very nice of her to offer it otherwise it would have been chucked out. Wine was nice, beer too. We will return again and I hope that they will not close it again...and in summer the outside sidewalk terrace...

Aan de overkant zit cafe 't Bonte Paard en daar was het veel gezelliger! Eten was op zich prima van kwaliteit maar de service was dramatisch! Werden naar een tafel geleid en daar gevraagd voor drankjes. Deze kwamen, wij vroegen gelijk om de menukaart en deze zou direct gebracht worden. Die ober niet meer gezien en na 15 minuten zelf maar weer eens om een kaart gevraagd bij een andere (hele jonge en onervaren) serveerster. Bij het bestellen was de serveerster niet op de hoogte van het menu want er werd gevraagd of we bruin of wit brood wilden bij een gerecht zonder brood. Dit gerecht was gegrilde tonijn, en bleek een mini voorgerecht te zijn van drie hele dunne plakjes. Bespottelijk weinig voor €14! Dat het maar zo'n klein gerecht was, was niet van te voren aangegeven bij de bestelling zodat wij onze keuze voor een volledig lunchgerecht nog konden wijzigen. De smaak van het broodje met makreel en kimchi was prima. Na 45 minuten op het terras nog geen eten op tafel of besteld. Werd tijdens ons bezoek nooit gevraagd of alles naar wens was of dat we nog iets wilde drinken. We voelden ons tijdens ons bezoek de hele tijd genegeerd. Bediening was erg passief. Zelfs bij het vragen om de rekening ging het mis, deze zou ook weer direct gebracht worden. Wij hadden ervan geleerd en na 5 minuten maar bij een andere ober opnieuw gevraagd. Kortom: prima eten (als je het juiste kiest), maar ongelofelijk wat een slechte service!! Voor...
