The atmosphere in Double B was good. It's dark, cosy, and the interior is rustic. I was sitting with a large group of people. Most where seated right away, but half of the group came withing an hour. They where quick to give us drinks, but the fact that we where so many and had to wait for so long for food, it would have been nice to be offered something to eat before we got our food.
The servers where nice enough, but I cannot say I like the restaurants gimmick. You are supposed to order what you yourself want on your burger. You decide sauces and you decide toppings. When I go to a resturant I want a chef to give me what they think fits together. One burger that contains tastes that compliment each other. There were no recommendations. Then I can just as well make it at home. There was also very little real differences in the burgers. A burger resturant for me need different types of burgers, different types of meat.
The food I got was nicely served, and every side dish was in cool containers. Unfortunately I didn't like my burger. The taste wasn't good, and I could hardly taste the guacamole I choose for it. The burger bread was boring, but the meat itself was the biggest disappointed. Hard, difficult to chew, and more than thoroughly cooked. I've come to understand that burgers in The Netherlands are usually more compact than in other countries, so I don't know how much of it is personal taste, or the resturant. Personally I didn't like it and even though I was very hungry I couldn't...
Read moreWe really wanted a good burger and when we looked online all the reviews were great for this place but it just missed. The wait for our food was soooo long. I even watched one of the servers dump a burger on the guy next to our table. Then when we got our food the burgers were raw. Now believe me I know what a good burger is. You always want them pink inside but this was almost like they had grilled them to get the outside done and the inside was like eating raw hamburger meat. Our daughter wouldn’t even finish her burger because it was so raw. I like the idea of what they are trying to do but my husband said his bun was so hard he couldn’t really eat it with the burger. The fries were great and I was even amazed that my son’s sweet potato fries stayed warm but I feel like this place is too expensive for sub par food. The meat has a strange taste as well. We all left feeling rather sick to our stomach after eating...
Read moreLove this place and happily commute 40+ km every so often to grab a bite here. "Building" your own burger is fun and there is enough variation to try out different burgers every time. Side dishes are great as well, the cheese sticks get a special recommendation! Staff is pretty alert when you want to order something as well and the burgers are really well made. A minor negative is not being able to pay in a convenient place. A check out terminal in the hallway would be a vast improvement over near the bar. Have had a mistake in an order once but that got handled correctly so I'm not going to take marks off for that. For me this place is really great value for money, and that is saying something as this isn't the cheapest burger joint on the block. This is a place where you can hang out and eat a good meal in a great atmosphere and the is well worth...
