Stadswaag Leeuwarden — Restaurant in Leeuwarden

A pleasant surprise 🙂. Attracted by this characteristic building in the center of the square and by the beautiful smile of one of the nice girls on the team, I entered and... wow!! A historic and at the same time super welcoming environment that you wouldn't expect from the outside. Food prepared with care and very good. Clean and not noisy place. Pleasant surprise... at the end of lunch I ordered an espresso coffee, already resigned to drinking a pale imitation of our Italian espresso and instead... I found and enjoyed an excellent coffee!!! Congratulations to all the staff. I highly recommend it. It will certainly be one of my favorite destinations during my Sunday walks...

Lekker gegeten, maar het kon allemaal wel iets beter.

Ik had de tosti pulled pork besteld. Lekker broodje, goed dik ook. Het brood van de kroket op brood van mijn vriend was ook erg goed. Dik en vers. Niks op aan te merken. De garnituur die erbij kwamen waren iets minder. Blaadjes...spinazie of een of andere sla soort die ik niet ken met tomaatstukjes die erg naar knoflook smaakten.

Als drankje had ik enthousiast de homemade ice tea besteld. Het was meer water met ijs en fruit. Ik proefde geen thee. Het fruit in de ice tea was bevroren. Ik weet niet of het de bedoeling was dat ik het op at...maar bevroren fruit is lastig te eten en omdat het bevroren is geeft het ook geen smaak aan het water waar het in zit.... Dus dat was een tegenvaller.

Als "toetje" nog de Cheesecakefacory cheesecake besteld. Man! dat was echt een maaltijd op zich. Heel dik en machtig. Zat totaal geen lucht of ruimte in. Wellicht ben ik niet bekend met de cheesecake van de factory...dan is het simpel smaken verschillen. Maar de zielige vlaai vulling van aarbeien in dikke siroop die erbij geserveerd waren waren echt niet lekker. Zag er ook niet appetijtelijk uit. Er was dan wel weer verse goeie slagroom bij maar omdat de cheesecake zelf al zo vet en vol en machtig is hoeft de slagroom er eigenlijk niet bij..dat is teveel van het goeie. Wat vers fruit met een lichte zoete/zure siroop was beter geweest.

En er zat een vet vlek op het glas van mijn vriend. Dus het was allemaal prima maar kon wel beter. Service was echt wel goed trouwens. Was snel en...

My husband and I are visiting from Hobart Tasmania. The service was excellent so friendly and accommodated us with an English menu. We enjoyed the Lewwarder board a mixture of breads and dips along with nachos and some tasty Netherlands fried finger foods. Very tasty and big enough to share.

The atmosphere was awesome.

Next time we are in Leeuwarden we will definitely be back. Thank you...
