Boutique Hotel Catshuis — Hotel in Leeuwarden

Loved this hotel! The room was spacious, very clean and modern with a massive bathroom. |The location was perfect, walking distance from everywhere in Leeuwarden we wanted to go to, and seconds walk from loads of bars and restaurants and shops (and overlooking the canal). There was also the Oldehove car park about 3 mins walk and the Zaailand car park about 5 mins walk (both 10 euro per day). The Zaailand had staff on duty what seemed all the time and so if you’re worried about leaving your car, go to Zaailand. |The room was well sound proofed so we heard no noise at all, despite being very central. They had Rituals diffusers scattered around which made the whole place smell wonderful.|The Fire cafe next door (where you collect your keys) had a great atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff and we also had our breakfast here, which was nice.||The only slight negatives (am only adding so you have a full picture) is that the rooms were up 2 very steep flights of stairs and there is no lift. It was a bit hair raising with our big suitcase. So if you have walking difficulties this is probably not the place for you.|Also the bathrooms are wet rooms and the way it’s set out the toilet area gets wet if you have a shower (which I hate!) |Lastly the staff all belong to the Fire cafe next door and consequently there are no staff on site after closing time (between 11-12) until 830. I felt a little uneasy about this, although of course it was fine on our visit. ||Overall though it was a fabulous stay in a fabulous room with friendly...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Catshuis. Our room (#1, the Nieuwestad room) looked out on the charming cafe-lined street and canal yet was somehow completely private (being high enough up) and silent (they must have quadruple-paned windows). Room itself was large and nicely laid out, bed was large and super comfy, bathroom and shower nice too. Breakfast in the connected Fire Cafe (included with the room) was amazing - eggs, freshly squeezed OJ, coffee, yogurt & granola, and a tower of fresh bread, cheese, meats, and fruit (served at your table, not a buffet). Convenient to walk to everything in Leeuwarden. Honestly, this may have been my most positive hotel experience ever - if we ever get back to that part of the Netherlands we will definitely...
