Thai Family — Restaurant in Leidschendam-Voorburg

Such a quaint, beautiful restaurant. We dined for the first time last Sunday, and we were immediately greeted with an ambient atmosphere with happy tables, dim warm lights, and a very sweet waitress.

As it is smaller than the average restaurant, tables are limited, so reservations will definitely go a long way! We were fortunate enough to have a table free for two.

The great thing about having limited tables was having this sense of personal attention from the waitresses and chefs. There were two waitresses serving, and they were both very sweet, very friendly.

The food was very comforting and meticulously made, served in charming plates and bowls (starters came in these cute baskets that resemble bamboo yokes). We both ordered duck dishes, which takes a while to cook through, but was worth the wait. The food was excellent; full of flavour with a wonderful aroma to pair with.

One thing I will note: The spicy dishes are manageable. If you have a high tolerance for spicy food, it won't give you that kick unless you request it to be spicier!

Having 2 starters, 2 mains, and a dessert to takeway, costed up to 70 euros. Considering the quality and service, I'd say it's very much worth it!

We have ordered food for delivery from Thai Family multiple times. They do not disappoint! This was our first time eating in the restaurant, and it was a great experience. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, inviting, and comfortable. The staff were kind and communicative. We never lacked anything, as the service was excellent. All of our food was nicely presented, colorful, fresh, and full of flavor! I can't recommend just one dish, as they are all delicious, but we repeatedly order the keng khiao wan (green curry), keng karie (yellow curry), and keng ped (red curry). We bestelden kip saté en tom yum soep als voorgerecht. Mijn vrouw vrouw bestelde iets dat niet op het menu stond. De serveerster bevestigde dat mijn vrouw dit toch kon krijgen. Het voorgerecht arriveerde 30 minuten later. In plaats van de kip saté kregen we loempia’s. Echter accepteerden we dit toch om de moeite te besparen. Een uur nadat we klaar waren met ons voorgerecht vertelde de serveerster dat dat het hoofdgerecht voor mijn vrouw toch niet gemaakt kon worden en vroeg haar alsnog iets te bestellen van het menu. We ontvingen geen excuses. We waren erg teleurgesteld dat we pas anderhalf uur na het bestellen te horen kregen dat het bestelde gerecht toch niet gemaal kon worden. We hebben het restaurant verlaten zonder hoofdgerecht gegeten te hebben.

We ordered kip satay and tom yum soup for starters. My wife asked if they could prepare something out of the menu for the main. The waitress said yes positively. The starter arrived 30 minutes later. Instead of the Kip satay they brought over spring rolls. Nevertheless, we accepted the wrong order to save the hassle. 1 hour after finishing our starter, the waitress came and told us that she couldn’t prepare the main for my wife and asked her to choose something else from the menu.
