Made a reservation, noted gluten and dairy as dietary restrictions. The reservation i made was for inside of the restaurant, instead we were placed right next to the street, so every car and bus passing, was inches from us and our food. Okay, fine. As we were seated, the server brought a menu in Dutch with notations, things that are non-compliant marked with an X, things that can be made to accommodate marked with an A, and things without a mark that are compliant. And the same menu in English. Great start. We made the selections, i specifically reiterated to the server one of the things I'm ordering needs to be altered to accommodate the restrictions. After some wait, the food arrived. Placed in front of me was, from what i could tell, the original dish. I asked if there's gluten in these crackers, the server didn't know. Go ask please. Sure enough, the crackers had gluten in them. When we ask you to accommodate dietary restrictions, do you think we're playing?!?! Do we think we do this for fun?!?! I don't know if the server didn't relay this to the kitchen or the kitchen didn't care but that's just reckless and dangerous. This is a Michelin recommended restaurant. The food was meh. The spare ribs were okay but the sauces that went with them my dining partner didn't like very much. I ordered the razor clam salad which was tiny, which i can forgive, but all you could taste was garlic. And then there were the mashed baby potatoes. Not mashed, just 4 or 5 of them, tiny, cooked and cut in half, with some lettuce added, some egg white, some i assume canned olives and then drowned in a sauce that was essentially mayonnaise. So every bit was a spoonful of mayonnaise. Just no. It wasn't cheap either but I'll gladly pay for a good meal. This was not that. Food was borderline atrocious and the service was just plain bad....

BistorBar Berlin changed it's menu from the former Café Bruut. The traditional steak-and-fries menu has made it's way for a new and surprising tapas-like menu. All the basic dishes are 10 euro's and you can mix and match to you own liking. This concept works especially well for groups. Since every dish is very rich in flavor, the relatively small dishes will often be enough for two to three people to have a taste. Which in turn means you can enjoy many different dishes when sharing.
For larger groups BBB serves some larger dishes. We ordered the catch of the day with a group of four (among other dishes), which was particularly good. We visited BBB twice now and ate around two to three dishes per person per visit. An average dinner will cost you anywhere between 40 - 60 euro's per person (drinks included). Desserts, the chocolate cake in particular, are very good!
When looking for a decent dinner or place to spend your evening, BBB is one of the go-to places. The food is excellent, they have a good wine selection and the price is comparable to other good restaurants in Nijmegen. Be sure to make a reservation (this is possible online) before going, it...
Read moreWe had dinner here last night. Made the reservation only a couple of hours before! Looking back, it was pure luck there was still a spot free. It's a cosy bar /bistro industrial style resembling the ambiance if you were in Berlin. The menu is way above average and the fact it was created together with Michellin-Star chef Ron Blaauw, drew our attention. The concept is modern and it's up to you how you wan't to dine. You can do food sharing or have a tapas-like concept, where you select your dishes and how many. You pay per dish and the dishes are intermediate sized. They are not cheap, but it's all worth it. Good, friendly and professional service and dispite the crowds, it was quick. The food is star worthy, very tastfull. Dishes are bold and expirimental. This bistro has Michellin Star ambitions. Reason for me not to give five stars is the closure. When requesting the bill and getting our coat, self service was not in line with the expectations compared to the rest of the evening. It's a minor point, hence the 4 out of 5. All-in-all, I would strongly recommend eating here if you value good quality food and a...
