Sumo — Restaurant in Nijmegen

I placed an order for about of 45 euro at 18h. The order was supposed to arrive at 19h. But it hasn't. At 19:30h I called the restaurant only to be told by the employee that that they don't speak English, and they kept me on the line for 10 minutes without telling me what is going on. After those 10 minutes someone who actually speaks English told me that they haven't even started working on my order. They asked me if I still wanted it or if they should cancel. I said they should cancel and the employee promised a full refund. I thought that during this hard lockdown in the Netherlands the restaurants are actually barely surviving on takeouts and deliveries. I haven't had a chance to try their food, but I can't imagine that any food would be that good to outweigh such appalling service. Especially not at a restaurant that among other things, offers cream cheese sushi! I'll never order from it again, nor will I visit when they reopen. I'll also make sure to share my experience as widely as possible. What shocked me the most is their nonchalant attitude while being so outrageously...

Food is great, service is great, prices are reasonable giving that sushi is in general an expensive culinary experience. The interior looks amazing so it is a beautiful place to go on a romantic dinner. The system is a bit annoying in my opinion because I would love to go there and have just a few pieces of sushi but noooo, you have to get six rounds or else it's highly overpriced. Every time when I leave I am therefore super full which takes away from the fun of it for me because I don't like to feel so full, almost sick at times after my dinner. You also have to pay extra if you order and not eat the food which for me, as a picky eater is not nice because what am I supposed to do if I just don't like it? But you can't fight the system I guess so if you just accept it for what it is then it can be a very enjoyable dining experience. And the products are always nice and fresh and taste amazing. So go with an empty stomach and fill it up with their broad selection of the best sushi and warm...

For a chain sushi restaurant, it's pretty decent. It's rather pricey for what they offer, but the food is good. I wasn't all that impressed with their sushi rolls - not a huge variety - but the fish was fresh and the rice was cooked properly. The real attraction for me was the hot dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed all the ones I tried, most notably the shrimp tempura. The only complaint I could have was the chicken was a touch dry. Lastly, a dish not seen in many Japanese restaurants, there was a fried banana dish. It was delicious and a nice end to the meal. The portions were very small, however as I was having the all-you-can-eat menu, this only allowed me to sample a greater number of dishes, so it was more of an asset than a drawback.
