Café de Wels — Restaurant in Noordwijk

Located just off the high street, it is very well presented inside and out. Food was enjoyable if unmemorable from the Social Deal discount menu. That said, I enjoyed the meal. Food service was surprisingly slow given I was the only customer although it seemed faster following the arrival of and for another couple shortly after my main course had been presented. Perhaps the kitchen wasn't turned on until after I ordered? Waiter was friendly. I would go back but probably not my first choice. Beers seem to be the most expensive in town. For a fast drink like a sundowner OK, but the meals are terrible: Catastrophical small soles riddled with bones, a lovelessly made paper bag of french fries for two persons and a not less terrible little salad with a fatty sauce all in all for 20 Euros per person are simply not acceptable. There are lots of restaurants around the corner in Noordwijk where you can eat better for your money. At least the drinks were OK - the beer was tapped well and the wine acceptable. Would not recommend it for its cuisine, but as a simple beer or wine local for a boozy afternoon or...

Went early for dinner. Staff was welcoming. We. Ordered the schnitzel and ribs. Had a beer and a coke. Food was quite tasty and came out at a reasonable speed. Had a local area beer which was nice. Ribs were quite tasty and tender. I have never eaten an entire rack but did today. Fry's were good. We asked they be cooked a bit longer when we ordered and they came out perfect. Ordered the mushroom sauce for schnitzel but came with the pepper sauce. Happens. Pepper sauce was nice. We didn't send it back....
