Izumi — Restaurant in Roermond

[Edit 11-4-18] Been here a few more times since the previous review, and I'm happy to say the previously mentioned issues of too salty food, or the sweet dishes tasting 'off' haven't made a comeback. Last two times the food was really enjoyable again, the staff friendly, quick and observant. Only downside now is the tablet which shuts off after 2,5 hours. Which is the rule to the all-you-can-eat concept, but still with a larger group we often find the 2,5 hours just a tad too short. On the other hand ordering via tablet is quick and easy! Today there were a few minor issues with the food; the grilled/meat dishes were salter than we were used to and ended up spoiling the appetite for one of us due to the saltiness, and the sweet dishes that were deepfried all had a taste to them that made it obvious they were fried in the same oil as non-sweet dishes. Maybe this was always done this way and the oil just needed to be replaced, but the taste was off. Izumi is conveniently located in the heart of Roermond, just 15 minutes walk or 7 minutes drive from Designer Outlet Roermond. After spending a few hours shopping at the outlet, I was ready to relax and enjoy a good meal, and Izumi turned out to be the perfect choice. The restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat menu with a wide variety of dishes, including fresh sushi, sashimi, warm appetizers, grilled items, and delicious desserts.

When I arrived, the place was already quite full, which is a good sign of its popularity among both locals and tourists. The atmosphere was cozy and vibrant, with a clean and modern interior design that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, explaining how the ordering system worked and making sure everything went smoothly.

The quality of the food was good — everything tasted fresh. I especially loved the sushi rolls and salmon poke bowl which perfect portion. Overall, it was a satisfying and memorable experience. I went for the lunch all you can eat which has the 2.5hr limit. The food was very slow to come out. Also the foot came out individually which meant that we could not share the portions as planned. So the first 1hr was a very slow service. We noticed that customers that came in afterwards ordered bigger portions at one go.

Some food was decent and nice - such as the sushi-rolls, miso-soup. Some things were unique (not exactly Japanese flavour) such as the tempuras, korokke, etc. Some things we took, such as the Gyuu-Udon (beef noodle) was horrible in that it was not at all Japanese like (more similar to Vietnamese plate - Pho).

If I were to go again, I would probably avoid certain dishes, and make a larger order of sushi-rolls at the start. I think the Izumi, had better reduce their menu size and offer what they do well, as the rest spoiled it. The price is slightly high considering the...
