ROAST — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Came back again today. I'm going to say it. Roast does the best eggs in Rotterdam!!! The chef is an egg whisperer, they're soooo perfect. Wow!! Can't wait to come back again n again n again n again. Revisited as promised and went for the hummus mushroom toast and some drinks. The food was amazing, the drinks were delicious and the service was top notch again. The hummus was tasty, the rucola crisp and the champignons perfect. The dessert was fresh, plant based and flavorful. I'll be back and back and back soon, keep up the good work :) Came here for a lunchy Brunch or a brunchy lunch. The staff is lovely and you feel the warmth as you enter and begin your interactions. Overall I had an amazing experience, the food was top notch, the value gained is way far higher than the price paid for it imho. I ordered a fried egg truffle cheesy toast and replaced the beef with champignons. The food arrived looking amazing, the eggs were prepped to perfection, the bread was on point and it came together delightfully. The juice, coffee and everything else food/drinks was very good. The place is cute and has a gezellig vibe and I will be back very soon. Keep up...

Roast never felt finished, old owners never had the chance to realize what they claimed to want for roast so it always felt a bit incomplete, but the aussie/south african brunch cafe vibe was there with a decent amount of authenticity, and good coffee if you had the owner or one of the good baristas making it. Now however, its lost whatever soul it had, its very commercial, somehow more expensive and inexplicably so much more popular, i guess its good for what it is now, not really a specialty coffee bar, just happens to sell specialty coffee. From my 5/6 visits since the new management took over, only one barista can do a proper coffee, and she should relocate asap to a real coffee bar. Food is nice, place is nice, nothing special, nice terrace, surprisingly busy at all times. Events and collabs happening. Visually it seems as if it was the same concept as before, but it very clearly isn't, so keeping the same look and name of the place...

Had a great breakfast here and some great coffee talk. The filter coffee special was amazing. Definitely recommend to go here!

Edit: second time here my experience was a bit different. I was a bit disappointed because they had these amazing varieties on filter, but because they were busy couldn't make me one. I even asked as I saw it get a bit less busy, but alas. From my point of view this was a big letdown. I came especially for the filter coffee. Maybe they should consider doing a batch brew for when times are busy? It's a common practice for coffee shops to ditch filter brewing when it gets busy, but I really think this is a big no no making menu items unavailable like this. The main attraction is the coffee. Yes, the food is great, but what is the main focus of this shop? The consequence being I will be checking for other specialty coffee places my next visit to Rotterdam.
