Mix at Oceans — Restaurant in Saint Martin

I had the pleasure of visiting The Mix at Divi Little Bay Resort on multiple occasions, all were memorable in their own way. First visit was for cocktails only. We came by in the late afternoon for cocktails, and we were instantly impressed by the friendly and welcoming staff. The bartender was not only skilled but also genuinely enthusiastic about the drinks they were preparing. We tried a few signature cocktails, each one fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully presented with a very cool ice popsicle in it!! The relaxed, tropical atmosphere was made even better by the incredible view over the bay, the sunset here is absolutely stunning. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you just want to linger. A different visit was a wine tasting experience. This visit was during a casual wine tasting event. The selection featured a nice variety of wines, and the staff guided us through the experience with warmth and knowledge. They shared just the right amount of background about each wine without making it feel too formal. The tasting paired well with small snack bites from their menu: light, tasty, and well thought out. Again, the view and ocean breeze made the experience feel elevated and intimate, despite being in a lively resort setting. Overall.. The Mix is a gem in Sint.Maarten. It's a roof top bar! I attended this New Year's Eve celebration with high expectations, but it turned out to be a colossal disappointment. For $145 per person, we expected a memorable night, but what we got was far from it.

Firstly, the service was excruciatingly slow. For a party of just 9 people, we were served only 4 rounds of drinks over the course of 4 hours. Waiting for a drink became an exercise in patience, which is not what you want on a night meant for celebration.

The food was another major letdown. Not only was it served cold, but it was also of a quality that I would describe as nasty. The taste was off, and the presentation was lackluster, making the meal an entirely forgettable (and regrettable) experience.

However, the biggest issue of the night was the complete absence of music or entertainment after 10:30 PM. How can you call this a New Year's Eve party without any form of entertainment to usher in the new year? It was unacceptable and left everyone feeling cheated.

Overall, this event did not justify its steep price tag. It felt more like a gathering in someone's living room than a festive New Year's Eve celebration. I would not recommend this event to anyone looking to ring in the new year with joy, good food, and lively entertainment. Save your money and find another way...

First, the entertainment was a letdown. The DJ left at 10 PM, leaving guests to choose songs from an iPad for the rest of the night. This created an awkward and uncoordinated atmosphere that completely lacked the energy you’d expect for such a special occasion.

The service was painfully slow. Between 8:30 PM and midnight, our group of nine was only served four rounds of drinks. For a celebration of this magnitude, the lack of attentiveness from the staff was unacceptable.

The food was the worst part of the experience. It was cold by the time it reached our table and tasted horrible.

Overall, I do not recommend celebrating New Year’s Eve at this venue. It was poorly organized, the service and food were subpar, and it certainly was not worth the price. Save your money and look elsewhere for a memorable...
