Sabores do Norte — Restaurant in Schiedam

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, based on the many positive reviews. I wasn’t expecting fine dining, but I did hope for good-quality traditional food. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.

The steak,served with rice, potatoes, and an egg, was severely overcooked. The entire dish was so dry that I couldn’t finish it. On the side was a basic, uninspired salad that didn’t add anything to the meal.

What surprised me most was that a place known for its food couldn’t get even the basics right. A restaurant should at the very least know how to cook, this one clearly missed the mark.

After this experience, I started to doubt the reliability of the reviews. Either they aren’t entirely authentic, or the restaurant has changed, perhaps a different cook or a drop in quality. Whatever the case, it didn’t live up to the expectations set...

The shrimps looked like they had been on a grill that has not been cleaned. Plate smelled like it has been washed without dishwashing soap or dirty water.

Olives were dry, the bread was not fresh. I don’t know in which way this is supposed to be a representation of Portuguese cuisine.

There’s no menu so they can charge you whatever they want when you pay. They asked an exorbitant amount for two dishes and two sodas....

We had an amazing time at Sabores do Norte!! The food is incredible, you have to try the Francesinha, it’s an experience! The service was amazing as well, after we ate a bunch of things they even gave us some free liquor and cake and proceeded to tell us stories. It’s comfortable, delicious and really not even that expensive for the amount of food you get. Highly, highly HIGHLY...
