Vlaamsch Broodhuys Schiedam — Restaurant in Schiedam

Was quite happy that Vlaams Broodhuys decided to come to Schiedam with a bakery and café. They are known to be upscale but have great quality breads and baked goods. I love their old cheese toasted bread, their chicken pesto toasted bread is great too. In general they have a nice menu.

I have been quite a number of times to this location, but am finding myself frustrated and disappointed. I don't know if it's because staff is lacking training or they are stretched to thin, but for their prices I just expect more. I don't think they've ever asked us if we want more drinks... We do. Order are made incorrectly. Last time I I ordered I indicated that I cannot eat chillies of any kind. But they gave me a sandwich with small chillies on top saying it wasn't spicy. So I sent it back. I believe they picked them off and reserved it to me, because I got stomach problems for the next few days. Not cool. So yeah, mixed feelings and I'll definitely think twice about...

I’m very happy with mainly the service, the bread and the cakes, pastries. There’s a ton of options to eat and take home. Haven’t tried the food (yet).

The place is nice and spacious. In the good weather the seating outside is nice. Toilets are clean.

The coffee is the only negative. The taste is subpar at best… The beans are not good, it’s overpriced, and the extra charge for alternative “milk” is bad practice. A box of vegan barista-milk costs the same as barista...

Ik ben nu een paar keer geweest en naar mijn mening is het te duur voor de service die je krijgt. Ik was er op een zondag rond 10u (vaderdag) in de ochtend. Het was niet vol. Evenveel tafels leeg als vol.

Eten en drinken ( als je het eenmaal krijgt) is goed. Maar.... je gaat zitten en je ziet dat elke vrije tafel wel vieze kopjes en schoteltjes heeft. Niemand die deze komt ophalen dus uiteindelijk verzamel je de kopjes en schoteltjes en leg je deze bij een andere lege tafel. Na 15 min was er nog steeds niemand die onze bestelling opnam, uiteindelijk hebben we een extra 15 min bij de kassa gestaan om onze bestelling te doen. De crossaintjes waren op! We konden wachten of iets anders bestellen, dus hebben we iets anders gekozen, een boterham met pindakaas om te delen met onze zoon. De medewerkers zijn aardig en beleefd als je ze aanspreekt. Alleen duurt het zo lang voordat je koffie word gebracht... het is vermoeiend om zelf beleefd te blijven. Koffie kwam ook nog zonder lepeltje. Dus zelf maar lepels pakken.

Ons pindakaas broodje was na een half uur nog niet gemaakt. We hebben afgerekend en ze hebben het broodje met spoed maar belegd en in onze handen meegegeven.

Voor de prijs dat je betaald was dit gewoon een zeer slechte ervaring. Je kan beter naar een starbucks gaan.

Eten niets mis mee. Bediening was aardig maar zwaar onervaren . Ik kom...
