Restaurant DE ZEEUWSE HEMEL: Not quite heaven, but at least there's a cat 😼

We came to De Zeeuwse Hemel hoping for a little taste of heaven. What we got was... well, purgatory with soup.

They took our order — or so we thought. My partner asked for a burger, but mysteriously received the same soup I had ordered. Oh well, he ate it. Not like we were going to starve… yet.

Then came the real test of faith: we waited an hour for the burger to arrive. During that time, a fellow diner at the next table shouted “HERE! Bring it HERE!” at a bewildered waitress, and we realized — we were not alone in our suffering.

Eventually, we discovered they had simply forgotten the main dish altogether. I had planned to take a nice photo of that burger for you… but alas, it never came.

On the bright side: the restaurant has a resident cat. He's fluffy, friendly, and unlike the kitchen — he never forgets about you.

Pro tip: if your food seems suspiciously delayed, don’t hesitate to remind the staff. Repeatedly....

We were only here for a small bite to eat, the garden terrace looks nice, waiting staff is waiting and it takes some time before they come over, the food is something that is very dissapointing, vegetable skewers are a bit like a 4 year old would make them, for decoration they are presented in half a cucumber, the poffertjes are straight from the Albert Heijn bag into the microwave, and the fries are definitely not self made, I think k it is Aviko, so a few bites that come from the supermarket around the corner, not really restaurant worthy. Coffee disappoints as well, must have gone for the budget beans, luckily we were charged a hefty mark up, must be for the poor service, location as said is nice, we really like Zierikzee, just not this “restaurant”, I think we can microwave...

Very strategic location. We got the quadruple room with private bathroom and superior king room with private bathroom. Both rooms were spacious and the superior king room came with a small space for kids bed (and a cot) with a connecting door. The bathrooms were clean and bright. Rooms came with breakfast which was generous and wholesome. The only little setback is the very steep stairs so for elderlies and children need to be very cautious. Check in and check out process was also a breeze. Opposite is Capri ice cream popular for their huge variety...
