HeerlijkZo — Restaurant in Schouwen-Duiveland

Worst experience so far as a food blogger with almost a million views of her reviews here on Google Maps. From the beginning one of the waiters was rude to us (all being foreigners, I’m Italian), stating that we had to speak in Dutch. We answered that we don’t speak Dutch. He didn’t want my friend to chose the level of her meat, when she was just asking it to be well-done. She asked for a Krieg beer and he said we don’t have it. Just to give her the menu where the beer she wanted was right there. We waited for more than 30 minutes for our food and the place was half empty. We saw people sitting like us and leaving because of the same thing. I ordered the mussels. We had to push to receive our food and the man who I think it’s the owner, came out saying “we have only one chef!!”. Yes, but if you can’t afford to serve your clients just limit yourself to coffees and drinks. Finally the food arrived. Honestly, as an Italian, I’ve been eating mussels all of my life. This plate was just terrible. I left half of it. And I hate so never leave food left over. A mixture of “Asian” style dish with onions, peppers and some other herbs and the mussels. We asked for the bill and the waiter was again rude to us. We asked for separate bills, he stared at us saying “we don’t do separate bills, it’s the policy of the restaurant, I’m going to call the boss!” We were already looking at each other like what on earth is wrong here? So the boss came back and he said “the drinks are on me” so we thanked him but he said they only accept maestro cards. Ok no problem even though a tourists place should have more options to me. Karma hits bad and fast in Holland. His pos for the cards wasn’t working at all. So he got visibly livid and frustrated and said “it’s on me, thank you!”...

While this place is perfectly located for a refreshing beverage in the centre of Renesse, and the service is good, it’s SO frustrating when, in 2024, one must either pay in Cash or with an EC card.

We tried to pay our bill with Visa Debit, Maestro Debit, Visa Credit Card and Maestro Credit Card…NONE were accepted by their payment system. Really guys? With the number of tourists who visit here, I find it difficult to understand why this situation STILL exists. An unfortunate end to an otherwise pleasant venue.

Note to potential visitors: get cash if you don’t have an EC card!

Ich bin durch die Googlebewertungen auf diese nette Restaurant aufmerksam geworden. Zuerst einmal muss Ich sagen, daß der Service ein Traum ist! Hier bedient der Chef noch selbst! Es hat keine 2 minuten gedauert und Wir haben uns sofort Willkommen gefühlt! Der Chef nimmt sich Zeit für ein lockeres Gespräch! Nun zum Essen. Hier gibt es das beste Kibbeling und die besten Muscheln in ganz Renesse!!!! Um ehrlich zu sein habe ich bisher noch nirgendwo besseres Kibbeling gegessen als hier! Die Muscheln waren ein Traum! Schmackhaft, daß Gemüse war knackig, das dazu gereichte Brot war frisch und die dazugehörigen Saucen einfach köstlich! Die Wartezeit aufs Essen war super! Von bestellung bis Essen auf dem Tisch vergingen mit 5 personen vielleicht gerade einmal 10-15 min! Der Chef hat uns sogar ohne das wir danach gefragt haben einen extra Teller für das Kind dazu gestellt damit wir die Pommes aufteilen konnten! Der Preis war für die Qualität mehr als angemessen! wir haben für 5xKibbeling und 1x Muscheln mit Getränken knappe 80 Euro bezahlt was aufjedefall gerechtfertigt ist! Alles in allem war es hier echt super! Und wir werden beim nächsten mal definitiv wieder hier...
