Grand Café Fanfare — Restaurant in Steenwijkerland

Very unfriendly staff, looks like they don't really care for the costumers but only want your money. I was there with my daughter and 2 small children but when we asked if they had any crayons she said she would look but never did. It was not busy at all, just a few tables occupied but when I went to use the toilet, I saw they have a whole play area with toys for the children. I don't know why she didn't feel like she could tell us that!!! I guess she was too busy having her own lunch right there at the table in front of costumers waiting to be served. The manager was walking around talking loud on the phone and 'waiting' the tables but he should stay at the office and if not, dress up properly if you are dealing with costumers. The food was not that good and terribly expensive!!! It does LOOK good but TASTES very poor. Make sure you are clear about what you are ordering because even if you order a simpel toast, like I did, you end up with a plate full of salad and slices of bread, brown and corn, with grilled cheese and cheap ham that tastes more like bacon. The place itself is nice but then again, it's nice everywhere in the cute city...

Nice spot to have a drink next to the canal. I waited at the bar area for a little while without anyone approaching me although there was one lady who smiled and nodded at me.

A gentleman walked behind the bar and asked if I needed help, then I was told to speak with the staff who was outside after explaining I just want to order a quick drink.

The staff who were outside was engaging in a conversation with a group of locals. I really didn't want to interrupt her nor the group.

Eventually, I walked back in the main bar area and spoke with the first lady who nodded at me from the beginning. She then asked me to speak with the girl who was working outside.

At this point, I lost my patience a bit and explained that she is engaged in a conversation with another group and I simply just want a quick drink as I am on my own. She then decided to finally take my drink order.

It was an exhausting experience to be honest. Ordering one quick drink should not be this difficult 😞.

Amsterdam is amazing so far, and I am enjoying every single bit of it, but this place is a let down!! Go somewhere if you need a quick drink...

If I can give 0 stats I will. Not a busy day in Geithoorn as it is raining. We made reservations online, when we arrived at 1:00 no table reserved for us. Not even cared to explain why is that. After 15 min at the table we had to get up and request a menu. We were given only 1 English menu for 4 People. 15 min later no waiter came to our table at all. We had to waive and ask few times for someone to come take our order. We ask for glasses of water. 10 min later no water. I had to get up and ask again for water and silverware. 45 min after we sit down we are still waiting for our food. Very simple orders bread, salmon, soups and kids chicken wings and fries- that's all....we are with a bus excursion and we most likely not going to have time to walk around as we will miss our bus otherwise. This is ridiculous!!! 10 min more I spoke with the manager and told him that waiting for food almost an hour is unacceptable and we are in a tour so we can't just wait any longer. He said " Every body is on a tour" WOW. No effort to...
