I’ve been getting my sushi from Ohmu Sushi for about 3 years, mostly deliveries but also occasionally dining in and once a catering for the holidays. I was surprised and disappointed in today’s delivery.
It seems like they are trying to cut costs on the set menu, which I’ve been ordering for years! The nigiri are much smaller and no longer include the more interesting (and more expensive) sushi like scallops with yuzu salt, grilled eel, or torched salmon with dill. The maki is now just cucumber, not salmon or tuna like it was before. The rolls have stronger tasting sauces (even raw onion) but less fish.
However, the scallops and tamago I ordered à la carte are as large and delicious as before… so it seems like they are cutting costs on the set menus. But these are 6-7€ for 2 pieces so they better be good haha.
I really enjoyed Ohmu Sushi’s creative flavours and especially their nigiri, but maybe I don’t think I’ll be ordering the box again. And with the Uber service costs at nearly 5€, this order came to 46€ for just...

Ohmu is run by two very talented and kind women with experience in London’s finest Japanese restaurants. The quality of the sushi is very high and the presentation eye-catching. Its flavors go far beyond the Japanese territory that you may be used to. They just had me try a new roll with sweet potato and cucumber and a thin layer of some exotic Mexican pepper - delicious and creative.
My personal favourites of the menu: Scallop Torch: incredibly delicate, with a fruity yuzu mayonnaise as the perfect complement to the soft shellfish and avocado. Surf and Turf: crunchy shrimp wrapped in soft sushi rice, with on the outside avocado and a thin, tender slice of beef (!). Dragon/Eel: stands out with an intensely rich, sweet and smoky flavour. Perfect to alternate with the more light/elegant...
Read moreIt was a sushi bar run by an all girl's team. It is not common right? I won't tag myself as a feminist, I appreciate they fight a place in this field! Besides that, the food is perfect. Crispy salmon roll, I expected it would contain some fried tempura, but it was not. It delivered the crispiness with vege and cucumber, it was Refreshing. The place is not big, if you are lucky you can grab a seat by the window, under the sunshine in Hague and seeing passengers open door and say hi. It is a community sushi bar, not as 'cold' as some Japanese restaurants in the high street. I like the vibe. This is a small place welcoming friendly sushi lovers. The owner said they will move, there will be bigger space, more warm menu. Looking...
