Badpaviljoen Domburg — Restaurant in Veere

We had such a lovely waiter (Portuguese guy), he came to check on us often and we had a great time with him. It’s almost as if he could read our minds, every time we thought about ordering something he would be at the table 10 seconds later. His service was excellent.

The food was overall very good. The fish and seafood here is rightfully called their specialty, it’s incredible and paired with quality ingredients and sauces.

The view from the terrace is amazing and the place is kept very clean even though the guests are coming straight from the beach.

My only critique is that I was treated poorly by the lady with dark hair who does the front of house. I asked her what the fish of the day was, and she told me “it’s listed on the 3-course lunch menu”. I didn’t understand what she meant at first, and looked for it on the regular menu. She didn’t say anything, just stood at the table watching me, Finally I picked up the right menu, and I couldn’t get it open because of my nails. All this time, more than a minute, she just stood there at our table with a smug look on her face instead of just telling me what the fish of the day was. It was almost as if she enjoyed humiliating me. Later during our meal our waiter came by and I asked him some questions about the drinks and stuff, and she came to take him away from our table. Her attitude towards us was very weird and it’s genuinely the only reason I couldn’t give this...

VOEDSELVERGIFTIGING! en restaurant wijst elke verantwoordelijkheid van de hand. Voor een speciale gelegenheid waren wij naar het Badpaviljoen in Domburg gegaan. Wat mij als eerste opviel was het feit dat er twee shiftings waren, om 18.00 uur en om 20.00 uur. Je moet dus klaar met eten zijn voor 20 uur als je de eerste shift reserveert. Vreemd in een zgn goed restaurant.... We aren wat te vroeg en onze tafel was nog niet klaar...er zaten anderen aan en we werden ergens anders gezet. We kregen de menukaarten en daarna hebben we heel lang niemand meer gezien. Toen onze serveerster dan eindelijk tijd voor ons had, bleek ze meer oog te hebben voor haar manager, met wie ze telkens aan het smoezen was, dan voor haar klanten. Zo gaf ik aan dat ik absoluut geen paddenstoelen door mijn eten wilde, maar bij het voorgerecht zaten er toch veel paddenstoelen op mijn gerecht. De entourage is best mooi, al is het erg storend dat de reserveringscomputer bij de ingang van het restaurant staat en daarmee midden in het restaurant en staan er telkens medewerkers naar je tafel te kijken en te smoezen en te lachen....erg irritant. Onze serveerster had duidelijk haar dag niet want haalde halfvolle flesjes weg bij familieleden van mij, die nog lang niet waren uitgedronken. Zelf nam ik de Steak Tartaar "Asian Syle". Waarom Aisian Style is mij volstrekt onduidelijk. Wasabi heb ik nauwelijks geproefd. Wel zag ik de paddenstoelen (Aziatisch?) die er volgens de menukaart niet op zaten. Als hoofdgerecht nam ik de Tournedos Simmentaler, Dry Aged. Tja...het was aardig, maar bij Loetje in Rotterdam kun je voor de helft van de prijs veel betere Tournedos krijgen. Totaal overpriced. Maar toen moest het slechtste nog komen. Mijn vrouw had het zomer menuutje genomen. Hiervan is ze al in Domburg (waar mijn ouders wonen) ontzettend ziek geworden. Dit begon ongeveer een half uur na het eten. Daarna heeft ze een vreselijke nacht en dag gehad met veel braken en toiletbezoek. Ik vond het uiteraard nodig om het restaurant hiervan te informeren, maar vandaag kreeg ik een mail waarin het restaurant alle verantwoordelijkheid van de hand wijst. Dit is natuurlijk bizar, daar de voedselvergiftiging direct na het eten begon. En gezien de andere gebreken bij dit zogenaamde chique restaurant, is het natuurlijk helemaal niet gek te veronderstellen dat er iets in de keuken mis is gegaan, waardoor mijn vrouw zo ziek is geworden. Wat mij het meeste steekt is de mail waarin het restaurant alle verantwoordelijkheid van zich afschuift. een goed restaurant doet dat nooit. Wij eten graag buiten de deur en hebben sterren restaurants bezocht en cruisen graag, waar het eten ook altijd goed is. Dit hebben wij nog...

When staying in Domburg we love to eat at Het Badpaviljoen for a few years now. We were well aware that the owner of the restaurant had changed since last year and so had some doubt on wether the former excellent dining experience was still guaranteed. Several excellent dining experiences later we can say that Het Badpaviljoen is certainly still one of the best restaurants in Domburg, the most beautiful location anyway. The quality of the ingredients and composition of the dishes are a real delight. The regularly changing seasonal menu offers good value for money and made us discover some local fishes we never heard of before. Service is attentive and relaxed, everything is set up to ensure a great dining experience. Don’t hesitate to take a bite or drink on the terrace with wonderful sea sight in the afternoon, it’s a tasty...
