MarktZes — Restaurant in Veere

Fantastic service, good ambiance, nice food, but something is missing.

Yes, indeed, it's a pity that MarktZes is not perfect, but it is what it is. MarktZes is a great restaurant, but lacking what it takes to become an amazing one. Neither of us really liked our main courses, even though the starters were nice.

In addition, what we were also not really fond of is that the kid's corner that they have (which actually does have a few nice toys and does have a bit of space where kids can cut lose), has a TV. And while we were there it had an anime show running for older kids. All in all fine, but that's kind of a 'cheap' way for kids to entertain themselves. It would be better if they would have more interactive toys where kids can play together.

But in either case, all in all, it is still a recommended...

MarktZes was the perfect haven during our cycling tour around the Netherlands. The coffee was great, and the apple crumble and lemon tart were absolutely delicious. A huge bonus, and very much appreciated after a long ride, were the soft cushions – they were incredibly welcome!

MarktZes is een leuk restaurant in het pittoreske Domburg. We hadden mosselen op Thaise wijze en traditionele wijze. De Thaise wijze was gekleurd met rode pepertjes, kokosmelk, gember en koriander. Heerlijk wanneer je daarvan houdt. De mosselen zijn gecultiveerde mosselen vanwege het seizoen. Kwalitatief meer dan uitstekend. De bediening is vlot, uitermate beleefd en hulpvaardig. Zelfs voor de hond staat een bak met water klaar voor het terras. Het restaurant is ruim van opzet en ziet er gezellig uit. De sanitaire voorzieningen zijn uitstekend en opvallend schoon. Dit zou je ook moeten kunnen verwachten met zoveel Duitse gasten in het seizoen. De prijs kwaliteit verhouding is meer dan uitstekend. Niet super goedkoop, maar zeker niet overtrokken. De sfeer is gemoedelijk en je krijgt meteen het gevoel van algemene gezelligheid en rust.

Het enige wat ik niet begrijp, en hier kan het restaurant niets aan doen, is dat de hoofdstraat van het dorp gedurende het hoogseizoen niet wordt afgesloten voor al het gemotoriseerde verkeer. Het rare is dat Veere, waar Domburg gemeentelijk onder valt dat zelf wel doet. Afsluiten van 11:00 tot 21:00 uur tijdens het hoogseizoen zou de hoofdstraat van Domburg extra magie geven.
