The food was okay at best. The spinach dish was undercooked and the paratha was not really a pratha. I don’t even know what it was but it was dry. I also felt that all the food had red dye in it and not any spices. It is a very white washed in term of spices. However I will say that the naan was soft and tasted good. The dessert (kulfik) was also amazing. It tasting like authentic Indian food.

As for the service it was not good. We had called beforehand to reserve a table at 6:30, when we arrived most tables were filled up which is fine. But it also meant that we had to wait almost 2 hours before we actually got our food which is unacceptable. Even before that, they took an abnormally long time to ask for our drinks, and once they served the starters, they hadn’t even given us our drinks. So we were eating our starters with no drinks. And once the starters came we had to wait for about 1,5 before the main dishes were served. And while we were waiting for the main dishes, no one came to clean up the table after the starter. It was all over the place.

Then when we had to pay they asked us about our experience and we told them an honest answer. We mostly expressed that we found the waiting time too long and really not okay. To that we were told that they were busy as they had a lot of online orders and they had to serve a table with 10 people so therefore there was nothing they could do. I found this extremely unprofessional. They took no responsibility and it is not true - they could have done something about it. They could have refused to serve a group that large and they can also choose to not accept online orders.

The restaurant looked very promising. The waiter was friendly and very helpful. He even went there extra mile and got us special touches. The location is good and you can sit indoors as well as outdoors. Ambience is very nice. Seems really nice. Except for the food. They added food colouring to everything. I had an allergic reaction to it later. The achari chicken was dry and seemed to have been made earlier and then reheated. There were hardly any vegetables on the other chicken sizzler dish. Ik heb hier een week geleden gegeten met een vriendin. Zij had me meegenomen, omdat ze er vaak kwam en groot fan was van dit restaurant. Het eten was inderdaad lekker, maar zodra we weggingen kregen we allebei flinke buikpijn. Dit heeft vervolgens ook een week aangehouden.

De volgende dag heb ik het restaurant gebeld, omdat het wel heel opvallend was dat we er allebei last van hadden. Bij de bestelling hadden we duidelijk aangegeven dat het veganistisch moest zijn. Wat we er niet bij hadden verteld, is dat we ook lactose-intolerant zijn. Daar werd ik tijdens het telefoongesprek meteen hard op aangevallen: dat ik dat expliciet had moeten melden, omdat er in bepaalde producten blijkbaar lactose zit. Maar als je veganistisch eten bestelt, mag je er toch vanuit gaan dat daar geen lactose in zit, intolerantie of niet.

In het gesprek kreeg ik geen enkele ruimte om dit uit te leggen. Ik werd voortdurend onderbroken, kreeg niet de kans mijn verhaal te doen en er werd totaal geen begrip getoond. Geen enkel ‘wat vervelend om te horen’ of een welgemeend excuses. In plaats daarvan werd direct de schuld bij ons gelegd. Dit gesprek heb ik gevoerd met drie medewerkers, waaronder de eigenaar en zijn moeder, en ik vond hun houding ronduit respectloos.

Ik was helemaal niet uit op een gratis maaltijd. Het enige wat ik zei was dat ze mijn vriendin, die hier vaker komt, misschien een keer zouden kunnen compenseren. Zelf kom ik sowieso niet terug, omdat ik ten eerste niet in de buurt woon en zoveel buikpijn en ongemak na een bezoek aan een restaurant nodigt ook niet uit om überhaupt terug te komen. Overigens helpt het ook niet mee dat we voor een klein karaf kraanwater €3,50 moesten betalen.

Achteraf weet ik ook niet zeker of het door lactose kwam. We eten wel eens vaker per ongeluk iets met lactose en krijgen dan buikpijn, maar nooit dat het een week lang aanhoudt. Misschien was het wel voedselvergiftiging. Hoe dan ook: de manier waarop het restaurant met klachten omgaat is echt beneden alle peil.

Kortom: hoe lekker het eten ook is, de service is ronduit belachelijk. Ze zijn niet eerlijk over wat ze je voorschotelen, ze maken fouten, nemen geen verantwoordelijkheid en behandelen klanten respectloos. Voor mij nooit meer, en ik raad dit restaurant ook...
