I stopped by at this spot during my Northland trip. I must say, their fish and chips are the best that I have had in NZ so far. Even now while writing this review, I can feel the taste of that Hoki fish in my palette. Yum! There was something very unique about their batter and the fish was cooked to perfection. I initially got the Garlic mayo, but was given Garlic butter by mistake. I opened it and didn’t realise it was butter. But they were happy to change it for Aioli later without any issues. I always stop at stumpys to eat becos they do my takeaways according to what & how I want them done. Plus they also have fresh whole fish not to mention the side punnets of kina, paua, & mussels. It is the 1 stop eating plce for me anyway. My last stop there I ordered snapper & chips under done,perfectly done, bght 2 yellow bellied flounders, a punnet of kina & paua to take home. Didn't really like the raw fish as it had big chunks of onion in it, few pieces of raw fish, the cream was normal cream and there was just more onion and veggies in it than anything. Also, I asked if the fish was fresh one of the staff said yes.
