Central Deli — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

After being a very regular customer this year. I was truly disappointed this morning in the service and communication.

I ordered an eggs Benedict the first time not realising under the options of bacon, salmon and mushroom there was a description of the meal. Even my partner had not seen it.

I very much dislike hash cakes so I went up after receiving my meal and seeing that's what it comes on. I asked to buy two pieces of toast. The lady was charging me $16 I said that's not right for two pieces of toast she said yes, that is correct. I said forget it I will return my meal.

When returning my mail to the kitchen, the kitchen asked what's wrong I said I wanted to pieces of toast with this and I was not willing to spend $16 they looked at me with shock. I then told another lady in the kitchen I did not want to spend $16 on toast.

I went to my table and sit down for another 5 to 10 minutes. When walking out of the cafe disappointed what looks to be the duty manager, asked me what's wrong?

I said I was unwilling to spin $16 for two pieces of toast.

She said it's not $16, and that there was a misunderstanding. I replied well I'm on my way to an appointment after wasting $22 on no breakfast she said I can do you another one now but then I would have to miss an appointment. So I got no breakfast.

At the end of the day,

She admitted there was a mistake made by their side and was not offering any refund or any problem-solving, unless I wanted a miss my appointment.

Won't be returning back...

This is our local and visit often. For those that don't know there is a back door off the laneway into the courtyard area which is dog friendly- we didn't realize for ages and sat out the front on the street with the dog at times on freezing days so the courtyard is a great option!!! Service is great - friendly and fast. Coffee is yum!! Food is good we can recommend the scones , muffins and sausage roll. Hubbie also loves the Nana Berry Bliss smoothie. Would definitely...

Loved that the cabinet had lots of nice gluten free options, esp nice for brunch. It was a freezing cold rainy Saturday lunch and it was not overly busy. The inside area was toasty warm, but the outside covered area was very cold and could benefit from some gas heating as it was an excellent spill over space.
