Columbus Coffee — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

First off i Really wanted to put 4 stars, as so you could better yourselves. but couldn't help myself :) It was just so pleasant. Came through last Sunday morning with a party of twelve with little more than 24 hours notice, and was severed with outstanding service both from front of house staff (Dylan Fletcher was serving the majority of our table, was very professional and catered to our every need in a overly positive manner) and Kitchen staff followed suit with (Didn't get the pleasure of (Head) Chefs Name, coming to check on our meals and opinion upon finishing, Delightful to see kitchen staff making public courtesy and hospitality also) absolutely splendid meals and a wide range to choose from at that. keep it up Gate Pa, We loved your work. Been going here for 2 years now and it’s always been ok. Today I ordered the Columbus breakfast with poached eggs. Ciabatta wasn’t toasted, when I cut the eggs open, they had not been cooked properly-basically raw egg and water came out (making my bread soggy) , took a bite made me sick. Sausage and bacon were warm at best, the tomato looked like it had been placed on a hot pan for a second then taken off. I tried to eat but every bite made me want to throw up. I’m going to stick with only warm drinks, cause even they have a 50/50 chance of being right. The service was ok, the guy that gave me food got way to close when placing it on the table, and I caught glimpses of him looking at me during this (and pervious) visits. Not to mention he is a grown man staring...

My wife & myself have been for some years customers for a coffee & cake when driving to Tauranga for many reasons. Most times we got our cake upfront the coffee, but recently, the last 2 times, we got it way after the coffee serving and the coffee was cooled down & nearly cold. This time, (table 49) we even had to complain at the desk again for the missing cake. Ordered additional hot water has been forgotten anyway. The slow-moving mentality of the service girls, with always only their friendly “sorry sorry!” Stopped us going ever again in this CAFÉ’. Btw: the toilets have been missing soap & paper towels, obviously the franchise owner lost his eyes on this business and service...
