I was looking for a place to line my belly for the day. I was recommended to check out the Papamoa Plaza (I won't go in to the backstory details).
I stepped into the mall and shifted my eyes around to find "the place". Double Teaspoons sounded like "the place" and upon entering, it had a welcoming setting with decor that was appealing to my eye. I thought to myself, I will dine at Double Teaspoons this morning. This is "the place".
I approached the counter and was greeted by two lovely staff, who were immediately welcoming and made me feel at ease.
I grabbed a menu, though already knowing if there was an eggs bene option, there would be little reading the alternative options. However, I did peruse through the menu, which had some other delightful sounding dishes.
Not to my surprise, I did select the eggs bene with salmon, my favorite! I placed my order and was offered potato or Kūmara cakes. I was delightfully surprised that there was such an option, instantly asking for the kūmara! Also, a spicy chai latte was ordered to quench the thirst.
Wait time was minimal, maybe because it was just after 9am and the mall was still under populated.
The spicy chai arrived and was very satisfying. Then came the eggs bene with salmon. Instant joy filled my eyes as I sat in awe admiring the dish containing perfectly cooked eggs, hollandaise, spinach, kūmara cakes, salmon and a smear of hummus. A petite pink and white flower topped it off, I'm not much of an expert on flowers, a so I am unable to clarify what the flower was exactly.
Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a photo due to my excitement to tuck in!
The staff popped over to check on how my dish was going, again making me feel very comfortable in a new setting.
As I now embark on my journey for the day, I am left feeling very wholesome and fulfilled to live my best life.
Thank you, Double Teaspoons team. I will endeavor...
Read moreNO HEALTH AND SAFETY!!!! Avoid this place at all costs. Came here before and has always been lovely. Maybe change of ownership, people seem different. We ordered 2 coffees and 1 loaf and a scone. Scone was so hard, it must have been a few days old. We didnt even eat it.
We were watching the guy toast the savoury loaf, he was using his hands....HIS HANDS to grab the loaf ( the tongs were sitting right there). Who knows where his hands have been.
I went up to the counter to grab some napkins as the table we were at was very sticky and had crumbs everywhere. The same guy ( that used his hands to grab things ) wiped coffee spill on the side of the cup with his fingers. I told him and he didnt understand what i was talking about and just continue taking the coffee to the table. So i told the young girl to just give me a wave when our coffee was ready and i would get it myself.
Absolutely disgrace.
I guess it doesnt help the fact that the place was busy and...
Read moreOrdered the Fried Chicken and Waffles for lunch at $19.00 or so. The chicken was disgusting and dry, I suspect it had been fried previously and ended up on my plate as a hard grey slither of meat with a tu breading harder than stone. I attempted to eat the meal but couldn't stomach it and feel somewhat ill 30 minutes after eating some.
Poor value for money as one waffle cut in half and 1/3rd of a chicken thigh were dwarfed when compared to the size of the green salad on the plate next to it. $19.00 for very little substance filled out with cheap green salad is a shame.
The service staff were good and the venue is nice but Id give the meals a miss and stick with the...
