stopped here for lunch. there's a great selection of food, pies, fried chicken and deep fried fish, bread rolls and pizza bread, etc etc etc. what I was really happy with was the prices! got a roast beef sandwich for $3.50 and a delicious pizza bread that was about half a metre long for $2.50. I must be used to the high prices of mount maunganui. but was good to see them keeping their prices down and not gouging like most other bakeries do. the service was friendly, premises was tidy and there were tables and chairs both inside and outside. The Katikati Hot Bread Shop is a small bakery nestled into a block of other shops in the main street and if you weren't looking for it you might miss it. They have a small but good range of bakery products including pies, sausage rolls, savories, eccetera and I enjoy these but it's the coffee that is really great. Shri (spelling?) the owner knows just how to make it, its as good as any coffee I've had elsewhere and it keeps me going back....

Hands down THE BEST pie i have had in months! (And i usually eat one every week!) Flaky pastry and the best filling! I got Steak, Bacon, Tomato and Cheese; hearty chunks of both steak and bacon and with the addeed tomato and cheese omg nom nom nom! Had to go back to tell them how amazing it was...if you like a good pie don't...
