The Beach House Cafe — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

My recent visit to The Beach House Cafe left a bitter taste in my mouth, and it had nothing to do with the food. It was the appalling behavior of the cafe owners that tainted what should have been a pleasant outing.

Upon ordering our burgers, I politely requested no sauce. However, when our meals arrived, they were drenched in it. We kindly asked for new ones without sauce, but instead of addressing the mistake professionally, the owner erupted into a fit of swearing and yelling.

Shocked and taken aback by the aggression, we attempted to diffuse the situation by saying it was okay, they didn't need to remake the burgers. To our dismay, the owner responded with another round of profanity and a curt "Good!" before informing us that we were not welcome back.

The entire encounter was surreal and deeply disappointing. As paying customers, we expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of the circumstances. Being sworn at and then barred from returning is not only unacceptable but also reflects poorly on the establishment.

Needless to say, we won't be patronizing The Beach House Cafe again. No one should have to endure such disrespect while simply trying to enjoy a meal. It's a stark reminder of the importance of professionalism and customer service in the hospitality industry.

One star - would not recommend. Lazy wait staff continually walking past empty dirty tables full of dishes while carrying nothing. Not a greeting or welcome in sight. We finished our average and over priced meals and went up to the cabinet for a yummy looking slice to finish and I was told I wasn’t allowed to purchase anything as they were now closed, 1215 on a sunny summer Saturday. We ate here a few days and loved this little cafe! We got the eggs benedict and the pancakes. Probably one of the tastiest eggs benedict I’ve had and loved that it was on a homemade bagel!
