The Quay Cafe/Licensed Restaurant — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

Fantastic cappuccino and fries but that's the only compliment we would give this experience! Served by a lady who seems unable to smile. My husband ordered a steak sandwich which for $25 thought would be of reasonable size and quality, was shocked when it came to the table not much bigger than a nibble, containing limp greens and a tiny piece of steak and a side of about a dozen chips. There was a wait for my order to also come to the table, which was a Chicken and brie burger and to be perfectly honest wish it hadn't! I have to admit the nice big basket of chips were lovely, this is all the meal had going for it, a limp side salad to accompany the burger which had cos lettuce, brie cheese and a horrid chicken breast. This burger also came with a nice side of food poisoning, still trying to recover from a meal I'd rather forget!! Such a shame used to be a great lunch stop but we will NEVER eat...

This was my go to Cafe every weekend in Ohope, Wouldn't go anywhere else and would recommend friends to go there as well. But after my experience today I would take my business and recommendations elsewhere. Order four breakfast dishes within those order was two Big breakfast with scrabble eggs one of the scrabble eggs was fine and the other tasted awful with some kind of metallic taste. I asked for it to be change and the staff took it back and came back and said they couldn't change the scrabble eggs. And was told they was busy, I told them I didn't mind waiting , half an hour later. I asked for the manager /owner to come and sort this out and was told she was busy and didn't want to deal with it I didn't want to waste any more time.This is a small issue and could had been easily solved. I can’t believe some of these reviews, it just goes to show how some people’s expectations, that aren’t always reasonable, affect their experience. Also, if you don’t like something, speak to the staff at the time, give them a chance to fix it, don’t wait to jump on google to complain.

Best coffee! Best eggs benny I’ve ever had, BEST cheese scones, if you get there around 8am you’ll catch them coming out of the oven. I have been there more occasions than I can count and have never been disappointed.

Fantastic friendly staff and quick service. Prices are very reasonable, I’d rather pay $4 for a gigantic top quality scone than a $2 tasteless brick from another...
