Armadillos Beckenham — Restaurant in Christchurch

Ol' trusty Armadillos! This is a local for us, and the odd family members birthday of all ages. Majority of the time there's a group if 10+ people at our table and the service staff are always AMAZING at handling all the chaos. Ribs are always my go to, but every meal I've tried from others seem pretty good. Service staff are helpful, happy, positive, smiley, and remedy issues quickly. They are very on to it when it comes to birthdays and it's like a well oiled machine.

Kids (meals from the kids menu) eat free if an adult buys a main (not a special priced main). The traffic light slushies aren't the free drink with the kids meals but they're worth every penny seeing the kids smile. Booking is simple and easy. Layout of restaurant isn't cramped. Toilets clean, free parking on site but it can get full quite quickly during busy times so best option is the street parking most the time.

Went here on Saturday 22 August. Worst experience we have ever had. The food and the atmosphere and staff have always been amazing in the past but not this time. The American girl and Alex were both incredibly rude. The female was having a break and said Alex would clear our table in a couple of minutes. Our table was cluttered for 40 minutes. Unacceptable considering it was quiet. Alex walked past our table multiple times. My partner picked up glasses, cutlery and plates and took up to bar. American girl comes over accusing my partner of slamming on bar. Not true. Partners dessert came out. When he finished it, American girl comes out and sarcastically says " see your table is clear". She struts off with dessert glass full of self importance. We go up to pay and she starts making sarcastic comments while Alex smirks . Disgusting behaviour. We have been regulars here for a very long time and haven't been treated so poorly. We...

We had a 50min wait for our dinners on ribs night, we were there early at 5:30pm with 6 adults and 2 kids. Finally when the food arrived, the 5 meals of ribs we ordered were cold, not room temperature but fridge cold. We sent them back, had to wait another 20mins and then finally 1hr 25min after our booking we ate. And even then one of the meals was only just warm. Excuse was they were busy, but we had a 5:30pm booking on Ribs night. The one thing you'd think they could get right. Then when paying we noticed we were charged for adults nachos, and we're told there were no kids nachos on menu- which there were, "oh that's an old menu" we were told despite there being a pile of the menus at the entry. The manager was not very forthcoming with any apology or offer to make things right. Won't be going back...
