Merrin Street Brewery Bar — Restaurant in Christchurch

I wrote the review below 2 years ago. We went back last night and everything was amazing! I had the roast vege salad with the BEST most delicious smoked salmon. My husband had the pork belly followed by the peach and white chocolate cheesecake. We shared this and that was all we needed (not that we needed it!) ...it was to die for! Amazing. Highly recommend.

My husband thought his roast meal was delicious and just a little on the small side. Said he would've been happy to pay a bit more to get a bigger helping. I ordered the warm roast vegge salad (minus feta cheese) which was the size of an entree but cost $26. It was delicious! But I was still hungry and feeling a bit hard done by. I told the staff, Nigel I think, and he brought me another salad free of charge. I was satisfied after that and he discussed it with the chef who was going to adjust the serving size. Absolutely appalling customer service by the so called Bar Manager. I went into Merrin st bar as I have over the last 20 years on a Friday afternoon and ordered two drinks. The arrogant and obviously powerful in her role bar manager quickly took our order but at the same time rudely spoke to a Chinese patron and told him it wasn't his turn as he was not in line. After taking our money and settling down to drink, the Karen manager yells at the top of her lungs "Excuse me!!!! Can I help!!!!!!Over and over again. Apparently we were not in the right area and needed the salt and pepper shakers moved before we could drink. I quickly told her that as a paying patron, her demeanor is disgusting and I do not appreciate being spoken to like that. First time visitors with two locals and regulars and we enjoyed dinner on a Thursday night. Have to give a big shout to this establishment for their great menu and genuine nourishing and plentiful food. I had the fish burger and the crispy batter was just that and my wife had the lambs fry. This can be a difficult dish however she was raving about it and hope the chefs read this. It was so tender she said it melted in her mouth and it was a decent amount too.
