omi sushi — Restaurant in Christchurch

Our new favourite sushi spot! We loved it here, the staff are friendly, the atmosphere was great (not sure if it was just because it was Christmas eve but there were candles on all the tables). We picked this place so that we could pick our own sushi and avoid waste, the plates, tongs and chopsticks were all reusable and the ginger, wasabi and soy sauce were all help yourself / plastic free. There were Gluten Free options (soy sauce included). We were thrilled with all the reusable options, especially the chopsticks! We would give 10 stars if we could and the only thing that would make it better would be reusable napkins so that the entire experience is completely waste free. Great work, Team Omi! Highly recommend Omisushi! Not only for their dine-in/takeaway sushi but also for their sushi platters. We ordered the omisushi platter and the chicken & salmon platter for my son’s birthday party it was so beautifully presented and delicious. All the guests loved it (even my mum said the best sushi she ever had). Service from Jordon was amazing as well as a customer dining in, he was very attentive and when decided to order the platters and were blown away by the quality even providing all the condiments and bamboo tongs for serving. The best sushi I’ve ever tasted, so much flavour and everything is prepared to perfection. The owner is so very welcoming and kind. I hadn’t been in for a few weeks due to a sad time with a family loss, and he was so lovely to me - even giving me a free cold juice to make me feel better. And it honestly made my day.

My daughter also really enjoys coming here. She always asks “Can we go to the sushi place with the very friendly man and yummy hot chicken”.
