Once again I had a delicious meal at the Opawa Café (third time in about a month). I had the creamy goat cheese dish with sourdough and avocado mash again (about $22), plus a hot chocolate and a slice of the German quark cake (I forget the name). I love the fact that they make all their own cakes and slices here, unlike a lot of other cafés, and the selection includes the quark cake and a superb custard square (I took one home to have the next day, nom nom). Quark is a type of fresh cheese that we don't really get into here, which you see a lot in Europe. The cake is kind of a cross between a yoghurt cake and a cheesecake. It's delicately flavored and a decent size for $7.50. My sister also enjoyed her mushroom and bacon filo with salad for about $18 - $20. The café itself is a bit plain; it could do with some jazzing up. I do like how the menu items are displayed on the wall in picture frames, and it's good to have the choice of a sunny outdoor table. Opawa Café is flat and at ground level, with a wheelchair-friendly entrance and toilet. Staff are nice and prices are reasonable, so...
Read moreAsked for a small coffee. Seen the barista was making a medium. I said I'm wanting a small. The reply. We can't make small because we can't get lids for them. So I asked for the cup not to be filled to the top and still charged for a medium. I felt this situation was a manipulation to charge a medium price for a small size. I needed to be told at the till that there is not medium cups being used due to no lids ( oh never had this experience anywhere else with small cup) and had that been done I would of had a choice about ordering. I hope you can either take small off the coffee menue, offer to make a small in a medium cup and charge correct price or replace your small cups so you have lids. I think this is more honest and a reputable...
Read moreOk place if all you only want is coffee & cake but don’t expect much for anything else. Meals are well over priced as for $21.50 for a BLT I would have expected more than 1 slice of bread with handful of salad thrown on and 2 miserable bits of bacon. Would have been better of to get eggs on toast with bacon $19.50 If you need salad with anything there is another $5.50 which we got & was very slim. The macaroni cheese in the cabinet again very small at $18 well overpriced Will not be going...
