Due to covid I shop for my mother on the occasion and today had bought the wrong yogurt, she is cannot eat dairy so it frustrated her. Returning to the store I showed my receipt and asked politely if I could exchange the yogurt to which I was rudely told I couldn't due to a health safety risk that any cold foods not returned within 30 minutes. I proceeded to check the time on my phone and it was 12:23, during said conversation the female employee emphasized that I bought the item at exactly at 12pm. This employee also did not believe me and asked the fellow employee next to her to check her phone to which they also pointed out it was past 12:30, without actually checking said phone. I attempted to point it was still cold, it had not been over 30 minutes, and I didn't want a refund. I was still turned away. Returning to the car I called customer service and asked to file a complaint, immidietly hearing a sigh i realized I was talking to the same employee as before, they said they don't handle complaints and forwarded me to frozen management, after speaking with Chris I was given a refund and allowed to purchase the correct yogurt. Chris, unlike the other employees was kind and helpful. Walking back in I had it sorted at rhe front desk and all was resolved. Eventually. I did not ask for the names of the employees but I have hope that the manager will check the roster to see who was on the front desk at 12:23pm and re-educate them on customer service. Appalling for...
Read moreI have just returned from this supermarket having experienced the worse service I have ever had. I unloaded my groceries at the express checkout where there were 2 New World staff chatting and watching me do this. After I'd finished a middle aged blonde woman who appeared to be the cashier supervisor told me, "there is no one working that checkout, you will need to move all your items over to this checkout". There was no sign saying checkout closed and there were 2 New World staff behind the counter, doing nothing. Neither of them offered to help. The dark headed man just stood there looking at me. I decided to go to a self service checkout rather than deal with either of these two. After I moved my goods the supervisor quickly put up the Checkout Closed sign. A bit late I might add. This was the worst display of staff laziness I've ever seen. Now the Supervisor could have role modelled service by saying, I'm sorry that checkout is closed, let us help you move your things as we haven't put the sign up. But no I experienced a middle aged women who clearly doesn't enjoy her life , and therefore tries to make everyone else's life a misery as well. So disappointing at our favorite...
Read moreIf you enjoy shopping at the most expensive supermarket in New Zealand and are happy enough to receive poor-quality products in return, then this is the supermarket for you! Short-dated or already-damaged goods are delivered. Fragile items such as fruit are buried at the bottom of the bags while all your heavy items squash your produce. One-kilogram packs of yogurt that expire in three days' time. Milk is exactly the same. Damaged goods are delivered. Old stock that has been sitting for months is delivered to you. Expired chicken and deli products are happily picked and packed. The staff simply refuse to read any notes that you take the time to write. They couldn't care less what gets thrown your way. This store has incredibly poor customer service. Management couldn't care less. I feel sorry for the elderly who shop here. Do yourself a favor and shop anywhere else but here. This store owner should be ashamed of the poor-quality items being flogged off....
