First impressions make such a huge difference and Johnny's certainly made an impression!! We arrived 5pm on Saturday. No booking but the place was literally empty. We asked for a table for 3 - 2 adults and 1 child. We were asked 3 times if we had a booking - we didn't. The hostess then wandered over to the empty restaurant to look at the tables, clearly unimpressed at our lack of booking - at that point, I should have just left. She then picked a table for 2 at the back and took a chair from a table of 4 and squeezed us all onto a small table. She then walked off. A few minutes later a lovely young girl came to ask us if we were ready to order, we had no menus, so I asked for them which she quickly supplied. The original hostess then came back - about 3 seconds after we received the menus asking for our order. We gave our drinks order and asked for more time to look at the food options as we had not even managed to see the full menu properly. The food options looked great for adults - I'd highly recommend you overhaul your child's menu to at least have some descriptions of the food. 'Beef Kebab' or 'Chicken Lolipop' are quite vague. My ribs were cooked beautifully but, for me, ribs are an item that you pick up and stick your teeth into - your ribs were great flavour wise but could not be picked up! Also had to ask for a plate to put the bones on - NOT that there was any room on our table for that! My slaw was also incredibly over sauced - tasted like cabbage and salad cream - not a hint of fennel as described. Hubby's fish and chips were good. The child's beef kebab was underwhelming - two sticks of chewy beef, chips and two blobs of sauce. My daughter was quite disappointed in her meal - it was plain and boring - her words.
We ate our food, paid and left the restaurant - STILL...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to go for a special occasion. The food was beautiful and the staff went over and above to provide a wonderful experience for us. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing and there was plenty of space between the tables so we didnt feel too stuck in other peoples spaces. They have a great selection of smaller and larger tables and the placing of the larger tables was excellent so the noise of big groups wont interfere too much with other diners. The portion sizes were big enough that we all felt full and satisfied but not over stuffed. The prices are on the higher end of the scale which made it harder for those on a tight budget to find something but putting a couple of starters together worked well giving plenty to eat. We were thrown off a bit by the fact that when we googled the menu we got a whole pile of old menus for them so thought we could order things like a full breakfast meal or that the prices were cheaper than they actually are now. Eg I was going thinking I could order a whole meal for under $30. Can we suggest if it is possible that someone in Johnnys goes through google and deleted all the old menus so others dont get caught out too. Also can I suggest that you bring back the range of meals the old menus show eg the breakfasts and some of those cheaper options so those on a tighter budget can go and enjoy the amazing place, food and service you all have. I would love to go there over and over but probably cant afford it without some cheaper meal options. Some meals offered for between $20 and $25 would be amazing if that is at all possible. Overall and top place to go and definitely great for single, couple or group dining. Thank you for making our time there so special and fun. You guys are genuine and come from the heart. You...
Read moreWe have gone to Johnnys many times, and even if the food wasnt great, the service has always been top notch!! Last fri we went to dinner. 3 at our table. One person ordered a beer , then he had another. He also had ordered the pork belly but was brought the pork ribs. He had ribs as his entree so told them they had messed up. They rectified it but it was rushed and the pirk belly wasnt great, with the skin being rubbery and not nice. He did mention it to both the waitress and johnny himself. He will talk to the kitchen he said. We left but while checking the receipt in the car, it was noticed that both the pork dishes were charged for. It was taken back into the restaurant and it was rectified, but here is the big issue. When we were home , the beer drinker asked who had the hieniken . No one had. So he had been charged for 3 beers not the 2 he actually had. We called the restaurant .explained the situation and was told the person in charge was going to call back to sort it out. It was a week ago, it was 11 dollars ago. It was disappointing that they didnt feel it was important to rectify this overcharge or putting someone elses beer on out tab. This is the first time i have ever checked the receipt and while i wont be back at johnnys i will for sure check my receipts from everywhere from now on. So should you! The two stars are for Johnnys...
